Second, and most notably, Billboard, at the behest of the record labels, has made numerous changes to their charting math, all of which have impacted hip-hop. Young people use ad-supported options like Audiomack (streams weighed less) and YouTube (data no longer counted).
Not gonna lie. Radio is about format. Most artists song aren’t even formatted. Also their are real responsibility that come with doing radio and most aren’t taken the necessary steps to support their record at radio so it’s a waste of money for most. Go digital 🤷🏾♂️
I tell artists they have to advocate for radio budget instead of digital budget. A label will give an artist $250K in digital and ZERO radio. I’d rather take the money in radio.
The struggles artists face today, and the ongoing conversations I have with the many artists, is the relationship btw talent and fame have shifted.
Most fail to recognize the significant changes in the industry and the evolving nature of the business of being an artist.
Gaining fame through your talent now demands a higher level of exhausting social commitment than in the past. The increase of media outlets, social media, and the instant attention that follows talented or talentless individuals have contributed to this change.
It’s simple. The artist’s work has shifted, the ecosystem has shifted, you are now an entrepreneur, and it’s crucial for artists to adapt to these changes to remain relevant and successful, especially in a consumer-driven business where musical talent has always been subjective.
The world is truly miserable. Social media is becoming unbearable. We not even social networking anymore. Mfers just on this shit bitching and complaining all day, everyday.
I don’t know if anyone told you this today, but.
being discouraged, is part of the game people not believing, is part of the game wanting to give up, is part is game
failure, is part of the game
But quitting is never part of the game
EVER!
I LOVE everything about this announcement.
Johnny shares the cover art (incredible!) and release date for his album, and explains why he picked that date and what inspired the music.
You need to give people a reason to care. "The music will speak for itself" doesn't work.
My Debut Album “THE 11TH HOUR” releases October 9, The day I was born. In this album I share stories of this time; parts of my soul’s growth as a person. Maybe you’ll recognize these parts of yourself too; the best parts.
