To anybody who has followed my career and knows what I stand for and built my career on, it should go without saying that I would never authorize my music to be used for ANY political agenda or campaign. For those who are new here, this could have gone 2 ways. 1. The President or his team reach out and ask to license the song, I respond ‘no’ and you never know about it. 2. The President illegally uses the song without asking but still the public goes full retard and immediately assumes that a license was granted. Obviously it went the second way. I’ve built my career independently outside of any major system and have made it a point to not sacrifice my artistic integrity. I don’t have a publicist or anything so being forced in a situation like this and having to comment is ridiculous. I am looking at lawyers and handling this internally. Love yall. New music not sticking has less to do with quality and more with the fact that little in life is a shared experience anymore. A song didn't need to be otherworldly 15 years ago to capture our collective attention. Now we have No. 1 records people haven't heard.

OutKast, through their holding company High Schoolers, LLC, hold 54 (!) live/pending trademarks. In addition to their group name, they hold trademarks for all 5 album titles, several popular song titles, and the term "STANKOWEEN" if used on paper goods and printed material.

The struggles artists face today, and the ongoing conversations I have with the many artists, is the relationship btw talent and fame have shifted. Most fail to recognize the significant changes in the industry and the evolving nature of the business of being an artist.

This is the risk you take when you don't clear a sample. The rights holder can send a takedown notice to the service provider, and in some cases send a cease and desist directly to you, demanding you stop further use and pay them for past use.

Not every artist is meant or destined to make it into mainstream success . And that’s no shade at all. There a many independent artists who are doing very well for themselves & have niche supportive followings . Everybody’s pathway is not global pop star

Several labels recently froze marketing spend for Q4, with pre-approved budgets being slashed. Expect fewer high-profile releases before the end of the year, with artists holding albums for 2027.

Over the past few years, several labels have pressed unfinished or incomplete albums just to have physical copies ready for opening week. Fans strongly dislike this practice. Now that the LP is out, I'd expect a full, complete physical version to follow soon.
