less cars on the road and there’s less potholes to repair btw. local governments should be all over public transport initiatives
Something about the Romans didn’t know their empire had fallen, they just noticed one day that the roads were no longer being repaired.

1 is 1 too many
What's funny is that this chart shows that Halloween is the absolute safest day for child pedestrians. 30-50x safer. Literally 100x the number of normal child pedestrians are out, but there's (only) a doubling of deaths on that day, a difference of 1.5 kids nationwide.

they’re rioting and you’re saying they aren’t french?
France is currently seeing mass violent riots by migrant school kids. Schools have been set on fire along with busses and police assaulted. This is the second day of unrest taking over France. Over 1,000 have been arrested 400 schools have been closed 2 high schools were set on fire. This is the result of mass immigration.
Community note
The opening burning bus is from a Jan 2023 mechanical accident in Nîmes, not current protests. Passengers evacuated safely. Current unrest involves student protests over school conditions with violence and fires. tf1info.fr/justice-faits-… reuters.com/world/about-40…

i hope that given the 4 years added delay they will have in opening the handsacre junction for hs2 that they’ll go ahead and build the junction for the eastern leg even if there’s no plans to build it currently. futureproofing now saves billions in the future

intentionally misunderstanding the argument to the level that this is just made up
I'm sorry, is this dimwit suggesting that before I take my 2.5 hour, £100 flight to Rome, I should first take a 3.5 hour, £150 train ride to Manchester?

Well as predicted, Cadent have come, destroyed less than 3 year old paving and left off leaving tarmac to blight the area. Another one to add to the list
So Cadent have absolutely DESTROYED the block paving on Waterloo Street in two separate areas, so just like Colmore Row, prepare for these areas to be replaced with tarmac for the foreseeable future. Fed up of finally getting improvements to the City just for them to be ruined.

This group of people can’t do anything but deny the reality that the party membership has consistently voted in favour of trans rights.
This does not represent the views of anyone I know personally who's a LibDem. Another Party listening to themselves shouting, and not the quieter wider electorate. Privileged activists must not allow the rights of all women to simply be dismissed just because it's tough to challenge this crap. Well done to @LibVoice4Women and @hollowood_zoe for always fighting back 💜🤍💚

i’ve said it time and time again but we are far far too lenient on drivers. incidents like these should result in suspended licenses and being made to retake your test. you would not pass your practical if you did any of these, it’s clearly not safe for you to be on the road.
Some recent examples of the ‘signage being unclear’

~1,600 are killed, ~27,500 are seriously injured, and ~100,000 sustain minor injuries every single year on british roads. 35,000 of these are people outside of motor vehicles. after motorcycles the group with the second highest fatalities per billion miles is pedestrians.

motor vehicles require much more road maintenance, pollute the air, cause nearly 130,000 casualties annually and take up swaths of land which could otherwise be used for public spaces or housing. be harsh to bad drivers. fund public transport. relieve pressure on the nhs.

🥃 Andy Burnham has just given English whisky the same level of protection as Scotch whisky! 😱 MSP for Speyside Laura Mitchell explains why that isn’t a good idea. 👇
Community note
UK Defra granted GI protection to 'English Whisky' on 11 Sep 2026 for compliant English production. Govt states this does not affect Scotch whisky's GI or rules, contrary to claims attributing it personally to Andy Burnham. gov.uk/government/new… gov.uk/protected-food…

why should you be rewarded by the state for becoming a net burden to the economy? or should we admit the pension should be extended to everyone of working age or older
£241 a week £1,049 a month £12,590 a year That’s what the government thinks your retirement is worth after a lifetime of working How are you meant to live on that?

the party for whatever reason seems totally content with this despite us not operating under a preferential system. we’re 2nd choice for labour and tory voters, and 3rd choice for reform and voters. try and win them! we could be first choice!!
New polling on willingness to vote tactically finds a big left/right disparity -76% of Green voters would consider voting Labour tactically, 72% Lib Dem -74% of Lib Dems would consider Labour, 69% Green & 53% Tory -77% of Labour voters would consider Lib Dem, 62% Green, 49% Tory

how is it impossible to have either a nice looking building or affordable housing? instead we’re getting neither??
🚨The Essington, 90 Broad Street, was approved at committee in March '24, subject to a S106 legal agreement. An agreement for on-site affordable housing, public realm and noise mitigation has NOT materialised. As a result, The Essington has now officially REFUSED. #Birmingham

i’d absolutely love to talk to the people who think reform and the tories are the main party on the left. how does one reach that conclusion
We've asked previously who people think is the main party on the right of British politics, but with Holborn putting the battle for the left in view: Who do people say is the main party of the left? 36% say it's Labour, 16% the Greens and 7% Reform UK - more than say the Lib Dems
