This Coldcard wallet incident has me thinking. As our Bitcoin stacks age and grow in value, the security methods we used years ago may no longer be appropriate for what those stacks are worth today. We’ve seen cases where people held over $1 million in Bitcoin secured only by a weak 12-word seed with compromised entropy and no passphrase — something that really should have been protected with a proper multisig setup. We need to reassess our security regularly as the value of our holdings increases. I recently reviewed my own setup. When I created it nearly 10 years ago it was solid for the amount involved at the time, and it remains technically secure. But the value has grown so substantially that the level of protection now needs to match that reality. Please take a hard look at how you’re storing your Bitcoin. Protect not just your stack, but your future and your family’s. With AI getting ever more powerful we will need to stay ahead of the curve.
