Employee in my org died suddenly this week (30s). Someone just retired early for medical reasons (50s). Someone complained that their trip to Europe might not happen bc spouse (40s) had a stroke and MIL (70s) is recovering from blood clots in her lungs. I’m weird bc I mask tho.

California statewide SARS-CoV-2 levels are down only 35.3% from 2025's peak, up from -41.3% last week.
Levels are now down ONLY 12.6% from 1 year earlier when it was rapidly falling, as of September 10.
The Central Valley has blown away last year's peak, and is up 6,067% from the low!

I am pleased several people I know could attend this. They are the future leaders on this issue.
Unfortunately, most of the people *platformed* by the event are not leading. They are in a room with mediocre ventilation, unmasked, during a COVlD wave, talking about the importance of air quality. It's just disingenuous. I had to shut it off half way through.
I had every intention to live tweet the UN event: Health Indoor Air in Schools, but I was too captivated by the messages in the moment.

I will never forget when someone I know well - someone who openly acknowledges that he has lasting damage from Covid - said to me a couple of years ago, 'I know I should wear a mask but I can't stand people looking at me'.
So weird though. I know people who are fully aware of Covid damage. They still tell me they would literally rather die early than wear a mask in public. Social acceptance used to be literally essential risk to immediate survival. It’s a very very strong instinct.

The dismantling of public health isn’t happening in a vacuum: the unaddressed collective trauma, and the trivialization of COVID-19 infections despite the current knowledge highlighting the high burden of disease associated with them, harm the population.
Changing metrics to reflect lower levels of SARS-CoV-2 transmission happened under the Biden administration too in order to serve the political agenda of the time. Knowledge & ethics must lead the way rather than short-term politics. Protecting the health of Americans is a duty.

More people need to be talking about suicidal ideation during the acute phase of covid. I don’t think you can understand it without experiencing it. It was like a switch. Severe neuroinflammation. No-one is auditing anything related to Covid. It’s deliberate. Doctors clueless.
