Then a guy took her call from a hammock in Ecuador and said if he did it over again, he'd pick El Salvador.
She'd never heard of it and owned zero Bitcoin.
So, she bought a little and flew down to scout Bitcoin Country in July 2023. Her driver buys her first pupusas on the way from the airport and teaches her the @chivowallet ATM. She pays him in Bitcoin.
13 months later the whole family lands!
$600 electric bill at the Airbnb. A rental listing that was literally a photo of a poster on a telephone pole.
She figured it out anyway...
Four bedrooms with pools and soccer fields for $850. Water bill under $5. Kids in a Salvadoran public school (almost no foreigner does that).
Then a grandma she'd taught English to was about to lose her home, so Charity moved her and her two grandsons into the spare room. No rent, no bills.
Now her YouTube channel is a second business and her WhatsApp group is almost 200 people, a third of them already living in El Salvador.
Canadians see their country going downhill. Charity sees El Salvador going up.

President @nayibbukele made THIS possible and almost nobody outside El Salvador knows it yet!
A Salvadoran journalist covering the Bitcoin Law got tired of not understanding what he was writing about.
@kealrive22 first heard people at El Zonte were accepting Bitcoin, googled it, hit the words "decentralized technology," and gave up on it entirely!
Years later he's at Diario @elsalvador covering the economy with no background in economics.
So he starts chasing interviews…
Sees a tweet that @maxkeiser is in the country, cold DMs him, shows up, and everything he'd been reading for months finally makes sense.
The interview finally cracked it open. @cuboplus rebuilt him. Money comes first there, then cypherpunks and cryptography, @BitcoinPierre on mining, @giacomozucco teaching. He enrolled to become a better reporter and finished ready to build something of his own.
@th3labssv is his AI and Bitcoin software company, and what he’s building in El Salvador is wild!
A guy who couldn't get past a Google search is now building on Bitcoin and Artificial Intelligence from El Salvador.
