Thanks everyone for the support, quite a few sales on @OrdDropz and it's back trending on @Satflow! @589xStudio just asked me why people need a Sunset. Short answer: You don't need a Sunset ๐Ÿคฃ Long answer: I sell them to fund the development of the app. If you think I'm adding value to the bitmap ecosystem, please support my work. If you think BitmapSunset is going to keep improving and reach adoption, grab some Sunsets. I decided to develop the app without any gate, so that any Ordinals enjoyer can play and any bitmap owner can build with it, so that any bitmap can mine its resources without having to buy anything from me, so that the whole bitmap community can benefit from its development. Considering how many fake bitmap clubs, grifts and abandoned bitmap projects people have thrown money at, and that I'm still standing after 3 years, a Sunset is a cheap ticket into the BitmapSunset fam. I'm thankful to the bitmap community, and even more so to the BitmapSunset one. Every minute I spend developing the app, I try to find new perks so that Sunset holders benefit from this whole endeavour, with one hard constraint: it must not capture the bitmap protocol in any way. Any perk must sit on top of the bitmap protocol, and any bitmap holder must be able to use the app without owning a Sunset. That being said, Sunsets already have a lot of value in my opinion, and I'll keep finding ways to add more. So far, some of the best perks are: 1) Billboards: if the app takes off, if bitmap gets adopted and people use the app as a gate to the multiverse, each Sunset is an actual billboard you can use to display and promote your work, your passions, your thoughts, anything, no permission needed. If bitmap is cyber Manhattan, owning a Sunset is like owning an LED spectacular in Times Square. 2) Mining pool: it's a ticket to the BitmapSunset mining pool. I developed a bot that can engage in a claim war with the bot that has been scooping every bitmap every block for 2 years, the one dumping at floor price. When I run our bot, I can grab around 10% of the newly emitted bitmaps, and I airdrop most of them to Sunset holders. It's costly to operate for now, as the floor price prevents a positive ROI, but as the floor moves up the bot becomes ROI positive and gets fired up again. 3) Pixel war: you can stamp ground images on bitmaps you don't own. Bitmap pixel war. 4) Curation: bitmaps listed in your Sunset's script are fetched first by the app. You can use this to bootstrap your builds, or bitmaps you don't own, inside the app. Curatorial power in the client. 5) Moon land: the moon is parcelled out so that every Sunset owner will be able to build on it. 6) HTML billboards: OG Sunsets 0-99 can display iframes (dynamic HTML inscriptions) on their billboards. 7) More to come...

The next Ord release will have a new recursive endpoint, `/r/block/`, which returns the entire 4 MB block data. That means: ๐ŸŸง Every Bitmap visualization can be built entirely inside inscriptions up to the current block, including transaction value anatomy (standard Bitmap/BitMon) and vBytes anatomy. ๐ŸŸง Indexing of the latest Bitmaps recursively. ๐ŸŸง Finally, accurate Bitmap indexing. You can search the entire block for Ord envelopes/potential Bitmaps, then call `/r/content` to pull the actual inscription content while indexing. No more arbitrary parsing rules, broken Bitmaps, or indexing issues caused by weird data formatting, OP_PUSH, etc. ๐ŸŸง Find every inscription in a block more efficiently than simply returning a list of inscription IDs. You can parse the entire block and analyze potential inscriptions to determine which ones to actually pull. For example, you could pull the block, easily filter out all BRC-20 inscriptions, and fetch only images/models based on MIME type. Congrats @rodarmor and Bitmappers ๐Ÿ‘ The Bitcoin multiverse just got one step closer. ๐ŸŒ๐ŸŸง๐Ÿฆ’

Bitmap is home to the new bitcoin culture.
Bitcoin culture is completely lost right now. For the last few years, Bitcoiners have cultivated this off-grid, carnivore, long-termist mindset that is ultimately very conservative and anti-tech. And now thereโ€™s a huge dissonance between the group that has stewarded this culture and the technical landscape we find ourselves in due to AI. This group is watching hundreds of millions of dollars get hacked out of the ecosystem and they donโ€™t even know what to say. They donโ€™t even have a take because theyโ€™re completely out of their depths. And whatโ€™s worse is the old gray-beard technical behemoths arenโ€™t necessarily in a better position to fill this gap. A lot of them checked out when Bitcoin hit $100k and donโ€™t know anything about AI either. In some ways theyโ€™re actually worse than the carnivore luddites because theyโ€™re extremely confident in their ability to understand whatโ€™s going on. The reality is that everything changed this year, and if you werenโ€™t actively keeping up with that transition, youโ€™re lost.

BUILT IN THE QUIET
The biggest mistake is believing nothing is happening on Bitcoin because Ordinals prices are quiet. UniSat is expanding beyond a simple wallet. Utexo is bringing USDT settlement to Bitcoin. Developers continue building across BRC-20, Runes, Alkanes, RGB and Lightning. Not every development directly benefits $ORDI, but together they make Bitcoin a more complete financial ecosystem. Infrastructure is built during the quiet periods. Attention and liquidity usually arrive later. That is why Iโ€™m watching $ORDI at an $85M market cap, not after the entire market rediscovers Bitcoin native assets. #ordi #btc

Gm, thanks a lot for your feedback! I didn't change the old rarity. nTx, weight, year, difficulty, block number: every trait people paid for is untouched, still visible in every marketplace, still worth what the market says. Nothing was re-ranked. A bitmap that was rare under those traits is still rare under them. The trait I surfaced was already there, in every block since the day it was mined, just never used: how many more leading zeros the hash has than the difficulty target asked for. It is the miner's luck, frozen on chain. Did he find exactly the hash the target required, or did he stumble on a much harder block than needed? It is tied directly to hashrate, hashwar and difficulty. Imo this is the hard DMT trait: Bitcoin's own proof of work, per block, with no oracle and no opinion in it, some kind of non arbitrary rarity. It is not a rarity system for its own sake, it is the input to a game. BitmapSunset mines resources from Bitcoin data, and it needs a deterministic, verifiable way to turn a block into a mining rate. A trait with an unknown emission rate can't drive an economy, this one can. Two things set that rate: the block's coinbase subsidy and its hash tier. The subsidy part is the one to notice: a 2010 block mines 16x what a 2024 block does, hash tier aside. So the bitmaps that benefit most are exactly the ones long-term holders have been sitting on, the old low numbers. And since mining starts on the block where the .bitmap was inscribed, the pre-lockout bitmaps have been mining the longest and have mined the most. Every one of the 966k bitmaps participates, from day one, with no token, fee or gatekeeping. This is utility for all bitmappers, from the shrimp to the whale. It can also give people a reason to mine new bitmaps again, since any new block can turn out to be a rare one. And it can bring attention back to bitmap on its own: at each block, every bitmap is mining, and every bitmap has a chance to mine rare bits. It is a perpetual lottery, every 10 minutes, on every bitmap. I'd love to add the existing traits to the app, and I will, but for it to be responsive I need to inscribe them for 900k+ bitmaps, and that is a really hard constraint. To implement this one I inscribed bytes 30 and 31 and the leading-zero count of every Bitcoin block hash, so the app can compute rarity and mining for every block and every bitmap mathematically, inside each client, almost instantly, without fetching 900k recursive endpoints, which could get the app banned or rate limited on ord explorers. It is also what makes traits browsable on chain at all. My ultimate goal is to inscribe all parcels, as I said in our chats, which is multiple orders of magnitude bigger and harder, but I'll do it. For now 4 MB of block space is the max I could afford, and it lined up with everything I had in mind. This is the piece I think bitmap has been missing: emission. Finding resources on your own land. It is what DMT and NAT should have been imo, and if we had done this earlier I don't think we'd have had the NAT schism. I had this idea about three years ago and can finally implement it. It has nothing to do with getting Casey's attention; the puzzle was missing a piece and his work had it. I use his idea 100%. The rest, mining, emission, tier names, everything else is from me. His attention would be a bonus, not the goal. On the worry about a competing system, here is how I see it. Bitmap has many traits and will keep gaining them, and there is no honest way to synthesise one rarity index out of all of them. Every trait is additive, never subtractive. Each app will favour the traits it cares about, and each time that happens a whole class of bitmaps gets promoted that nobody was looking at before. That is not fragmentation, that is bitmap as @blockamoto defined it: "It takes advantage of the nature of data's unique ability to be parsed from multiple angels." Nobody's bitmap lost anything. Some just gained something. ๐ŸŸง๐ŸŒ„๐Ÿงก

Gm! A couple of genuine questions Iโ€™d love to understand better ๐Ÿ™ How do you think this new rarity layer will feel to people who return to Bitmap next bull run and see Bitmaps they paid a premium for now considered โ€œcommonโ€ while a new set of rarities has emerged? Is the goal mainly to add a new utility layer, or is there also an intention to align more closely with Caseyโ€™s methodology? My only concern is that we could risk confusing or alienating loyal long-term holders in pursuit of temporary attention. Wouldnโ€™t building more utility and applications around the existing Bitmap consensus give people more reasons to value and hold what they already own? Genuinely asking and happy to be corrected if Iโ€™m missing something ๐Ÿงก๐ŸŸง๐ŸŒ†

Current estimated supply of genesis bits is 2.5M mined. 3.5M max theoretical. 71% of the supply is already in the ground. Emission halves every 210,000 blocks (~4 years), first cut at block 1,002,435, same schedule as Bitcoin.
Building consume bits.
