Short answer: You don't need a Sunset 🤣 Long answer: I sell them to fund the development of the app. If you think I'm adding value to the bitmap ecosystem, please support my work. If you think BitmapSunset is going to keep improving and reach adoption, grab some Sunsets. I decided to develop the app without any gate, so that any Ordinals enjoyer can play and any bitmap owner can build with it, so that any bitmap can mine its resources without having to buy anything from me, so that the whole bitmap community can benefit from its development. Considering how many fake bitmap clubs, grifts and abandoned bitmap projects people have thrown money at, and that I'm still standing after 3 years, a Sunset is a cheap ticket into the BitmapSunset fam. I'm thankful to the bitmap community, and even more so to the BitmapSunset one. Every minute I spend developing the app, I try to find new perks so that Sunset holders benefit from this whole endeavour, with one hard constraint: it must not capture the bitmap protocol in any way. Any perk must sit on top of the bitmap protocol, and any bitmap holder must be able to use the app without owning a Sunset. That being said, Sunsets already have a lot of value in my opinion, and I'll keep finding ways to add more. So far, some of the best perks are: 1) Billboards: if the app takes off, if bitmap gets adopted and people use the app as a gate to the multiverse, each Sunset is an actual billboard you can use to display and promote your work, your passions, your thoughts, anything, no permission needed. If bitmap is cyber Manhattan, owning a Sunset is like owning an LED spectacular in Times Square. 2) Mining pool: it's a ticket to the BitmapSunset mining pool. I developed a bot that can engage in a claim war with the bot that has been scooping every bitmap every block for 2 years, the one dumping at floor price. When I run our bot, I can grab around 10% of the newly emitted bitmaps, and I airdrop most of them to Sunset holders. It's costly to operate for now, as the floor price prevents a positive ROI, but as the floor moves up the bot becomes ROI positive and gets fired up again. 3) Pixel war: you can stamp ground images on bitmaps you don't own. Bitmap pixel war. 4) Curation: bitmaps listed in your Sunset's script are fetched first by the app. You can use this to bootstrap your builds, or bitmaps you don't own, inside the app. Curatorial power in the client. 5) Moon land: the moon is parcelled out so that every Sunset owner will be able to build on it. 6) HTML billboards: OG Sunsets 0-99 can display iframes (dynamic HTML inscriptions) on their billboards. 7) More to come...
