Two Arrested as SANDF Targets Illegal Mining in Westonaria
The @SANDF_ZA under Operation PROSPER, conducted an intelligence-driven operation at Kloof Mine in Westonaria, Gauteng, on 26 October 2026, targeting illicit mining and criminal activity.
Two suspects, a Lesotho national and a South African national, were arrested for possession of illegal ammunition.
Items recovered included 133 rounds of rifle ammunition, seven shotgun rounds, a stun grenade and a rifle magazine. Illegal mining equipment was also confiscated.
During the operation, 54 people, 10 vehicles and one premises were searched. The operation was conducted by the Solomon Mahlangu Regiment in support of SAPS.
