SaaS people underestimate the fun of building your own inferior (but sovereign) apps and showing your friends even when you could buy something you can’t change. And if you keep going, it won’t be inferior because it feels like play instead of work.
Why would I pay $15/month for your software when I can plan, build, review, improve, host, launch, scale, secure, patch, monitor and debug it myself?

If your model needs Resets to be practical, the model is wrong, or your pricing is wrong.

OpenAI is cooked because they got pricemogged by Anthropic, who cooked too hard with Opus 5.5.
OpenAI has no answer to Opus, or they would have tokenmaxxed subscriptions by now.
The entire OAI team must be on code red trying to lower prices without going bankrupt given how much money they raised.
Google is behind, but they are the new Microsoft, so given sufficient distribution advantage, never bet against Gemini v90.
If xAI doesn’t reach parity with Opus 5.5 in the next 6 months, there will only be two players in the market.
Verdict is out on Meta’s Muse. Zuck could have sucked these competitors dry if he hadn’t wasted so much time & money on VR.

I took a stab at improving the performance of Elixir. I used the PR for Elixir that @ZachSDaniel1 posted and worked some more on it. In the benchmark Elixir is now faster than Rust (ccece30 newest commit) for the Sidebar and Search benchmark.
Last conversion of the Campfire from my token stash goes to JavaScript/Express. As with the others, I'm sure you can find more to optimize. But this gives you a sense of what order of magnitude these options exist within with agent-led development. github.com/basecamp/once-cam…
