85वें सीएसआईआर स्थापना दिवस के शुभ अवसर पर सैकड़ों की संख्या में विद्यार्थियों का जनसैलाब उमड़ा जिससे चंडीगढ़ सेक्टर 39 स्थित सीएसआईआर-सूक्ष्मजीव प्रौद्योगिकी संस्थान (CSIR-IMTECH), में 85वें सीएसआईआर स्थापना दिवस 'ओपन डे' (Open Day) के दौरान अब तक की सर्वाधिक उपस्थिति और व्यापक जनसंपर्क का एक नया कीर्तिमान स्थापित हुआ | किताबों से परे विज्ञान को प्रत्यक्ष रूप से अनुभव करने के लिए चंडीगढ़, पंजाब, हरियाणा और हिमाचल प्रदेश के विभिन्न सरकारी एवं निजी स्कूलों, कॉलेजों और विश्वविद्यालयों से 750 से अधिक विद्यार्थी (लगभग 450 छात्राएं एवं 300 छात्र), शोधकर्ता और शिक्षकगण परिसर में पहुंचे। दिन भर सैकड़ों उत्साहपूर्ण समूहों में आए इन युवा जिज्ञासुओं का सीएसआईआर-इमटेक परिवार ने खुले दिल से स्वागत किया। विशेष आकर्षण – सीएसआईआर का नया शुभंकर ‘CIRA’: इस आयोजन का एक मुख्य आकर्षण सीएसआईआर के नए शुभंकर ‘CIRA’ की प्रस्तुति रही, जिसका अनावरण कल माननीय केंद्रीय विज्ञान एवं प्रौद्योगिकी मंत्री डॉ. जितेंद्र सिंह द्वारा किया गया था। आज ओपन डे के सभी आगंतुकों को ‘CIRA’ से परिचित कराया गया, जिसे विद्यार्थियों ने खूब सराहा और यह युवाओं के बीच आकर्षण का केंद्र बना रहा | परिसर भ्रमण की मुख्य झलकियां: विश्वस्तरीय वैज्ञानिक सुविधाएं (World-Class Facilities): विद्यार्थियों ने उन अत्याधुनिक प्रयोगशालाओं और उन्नत अनुसंधान अवसंरचनाओं का भ्रमण किया, जो सामान्य शैक्षणिक पाठ्यक्रमों में दुर्लभ हैं। जीवंत वैज्ञानिक प्रदर्शन (Live Demonstrations): अत्याधुनिक वैज्ञानिक उपकरणों और वास्तविक समय (Real-time) की प्रयोगात्मक प्रक्रियाओं का प्रत्यक्ष अनुभव। वैज्ञानिकों से सीधा संवाद (Scientific Interactions): राष्ट्रीय नवाचार को गति देने वाले वैज्ञानिक सिद्धांतों और शोध प्रक्रियाओं पर संस्थान के वैज्ञानिकों के साथ रोचक और ज्ञानवर्धक चर्चा। विद्यार्थियों के अद्भुत उत्साह और वैज्ञानिक जिज्ञासा ने 'विज्ञान को समाज तक पहुंचाने' के सीएसआईआर के संकल्प को सार्थक कर दिया। सीएसआईआर-इमटेक देश के भावी वैज्ञानिकों और नवोन्मेषकों को प्रेरित करने के लिए सदैव प्रतिबद्ध है | @DrJitendraSingh @CSIR_IND @AcSIR_India #CSIRFoundationDay #CSIRat85 #CSIRIMTECH #OpenDay #ScienceToSociety #FutureInnovators #WomenInScience #IndianScience #Chandigarh

Witnessing its 𝗵𝗶𝗴𝗵𝗲𝘀𝘁-𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗿 𝗳𝗼𝗼𝘁𝗳𝗮𝗹𝗹 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗺𝗮𝘀𝘀𝗶𝘃𝗲 𝗼𝘂𝘁𝗿𝗲𝗮𝗰𝗵 today on the occasion of the 𝟴𝟱𝘁𝗵 𝗖𝗦𝗜𝗥 𝗙𝗼𝘂𝗻𝗱𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗗𝗮𝘆, CSIR-Institute of Microbial Technology (CSIR-IMTECH), Chandigarh, opened its doors to young learners, educators, and science enthusiasts for an inspiring 𝗢𝗽𝗲𝗻 𝗗𝗮𝘆. We were delighted to host 𝟳𝟱𝟬+ 𝘀𝘁𝘂𝗱𝗲𝗻𝘁𝘀, 𝗿𝗲𝘀𝗲𝗮𝗿𝗰𝗵𝗲𝗿𝘀 (𝗶𝗻𝗰𝗹𝘂𝗱𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗮𝗿𝗼𝘂𝗻𝗱 𝟰𝟱𝟬 𝗴𝗶𝗿𝗹𝘀 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝟯𝟬𝟬 𝗯𝗼𝘆𝘀), 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗳𝗮𝗰𝘂𝗹𝘁𝘆 𝗺𝗲𝗺𝗯𝗲𝗿𝘀 from various government and private schools, colleges, and universities across 𝗖𝗵𝗮𝗻𝗱𝗶𝗴𝗮𝗿𝗵, 𝗣𝘂𝗻𝗷𝗮𝗯, 𝗛𝗮𝗿𝘆𝗮𝗻𝗮, 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗛𝗶𝗺𝗮𝗰𝗵𝗮𝗹 𝗣𝗿𝗮𝗱𝗲𝘀𝗵. 𝗝𝗶𝘁𝗲𝗻𝗱𝗿𝗮 𝗦𝗶𝗻𝗴𝗵. Introduced to all Open Day visitors today, CIRA was warmly admired and became an instant favourite among the young minds! 85th Foundation Day Celebrations of #CSIR: Inaugurated and did a walkaround of the Exhibition showcasing wide range of technologies developed by #CSIR institutes/labs across the country and the technology support provided to StartUps. Another important highlight of the Foundation Day celebrations was a special “SciArt” exhibition, whose unique feature was paintings by eminent scientists themselves, depicting various science related phenomena through creative illustrations.

85th Foundation Day Celebrations of #CSIR: The Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR) is celebrating over eight decades of scientific excellence and innovation. Established in 1942, CSIR today operates through a network of 37 national laboratories and has contributed significantly to the growth of various industrial sectors. The notable innovations include the National Aroma Mission, Swaraj Tractor, indelible election ink, Saheli contraceptive pill, and indigenous Paracetamol technology, among others. It has also pioneered sustainable solutions such as bio-jet fuel and steel slag roads. In recent times, some of the notable achievements include the HANSA-NG aircraft, sickle cell anaemia test kit, hydrogen fuel-cell catamaran, and RO Bus. To mark its remarkable journey and this special milestone, launched the Special CSIR@85 Postal Stamp, the Tech Connect Special Issue, CSIR Technology Compendium, Industry Connect Special Short Film, and the special mascot named CIRA.

CSIR-IMTECH is pleased to congratulate Ms. Jyotsna Gupta, PhD Scholar under the guidance of Dr. Ravi P.N. Mishra, Scientist-F, whose Sci-Art work, “Spores in Space,” was showcased at the CSIR Sci-Art Gallery at NASC Complex, PUSA New Delhi as part of the CSIR 85th Foundation Day celebrations. At the intersection of microbiology and astrobiology, “Spores in Space” imaginatively explores the possibility of microbial life beyond Earth. Through cosmic reinterpretations of microbes, laboratory components and living forms, the artwork demonstrates how creative expression can make scientific ideas more engaging and accessible. The celebrations were graced in the presence of Dr. Jitendra Singh, Hon’ble Minister of State for Science & Technology and Earth Sciences; Dr. (Mrs.) N. Kalaiselvi, Director General, CSIR and Secretary, DSIR; and Dr. Alka Rao, Director, CSIR-IMTECH, along with Secretaries of the other Science Ministries, Directors and Scientists from other CSIR laboratories. CSIR-IMTECH’s Biochemical Engineering Research & Process Development Centre (BERPDC) provides advanced infrastructure and scientific expertise for bioprocess development, optimization, scale-up, and downstream processing, supporting the translation of laboratory-scale innovations towards industrial application. On International Day of Sign Languages, CSIR-IMTECH celebrates language access as a foundation for equal participation in science. Through ISLEVL—Indian Sign Language Enabled Virtual Laboratory—CSIR-IMTECH is co-creating scientifically accurate STEM resources with Deaf educators, ISL experts, scientists and interpreters. From standardized scientific vocabulary and digital learning videos to virtual laboratories, ISLEVL is helping make science accessible, engaging and meaningful for Deaf learners. Recognised through the Zero Project Award 2024, ISLEVL is a distinctive CSIR-IMTECH initiative with global relevance.
