Had a dream a couple of weeks ago of stumbling upon a fragment of a really high quality Roman fresco, one that I've never seen before but similar to the ones from Herculaneum.
Felt compelled to bring it to life. The face and torso are the closest to what I saw.
I've been quiet for a little while, but now that the production of Knuckle Paradise is in its last polishing sprint, you're going to soon see me talk more about it. 👀

End result turned out pretty good! The reflection effect is subtle but little details go a long way.
Beveling a simple heightmap ended up being the way to go. Definitely a useful technique going forward. Thanks everyone!
Open question for 3D devs: what would be the most efficient way to generate normal maps for smooth curved surfaces like these? If I have to bake from a mesh, how would you go about modeling smooth interior curves like these ones?
