Barrios > Scott > Wharton. This is most simple way to go about it. When fully fit, this is the order of these 3 players. Barrios and Scott are generalists, while Wharton is more of a specialist ( dlp role ). Aldo i got no problem with Wharton, and i think in thinks he does best, he is amazing, i think he wouldnt be as balanced as Barrios/Scott in double pivot with Caicedo. Lot of OOP weaknesses there, and it wouldnt maximise Caicedo in a right way. Barrios is someone who practically strives in everything he does. Passing, tackling, link up, first touch, flair. Whatever you need him to be, he will be that. He is tiki taka type of player that makes others around him much better just by playing with them. Way he avoids pressure and how he does the counterpress is insane ( Diego Simeone effect ), and his engine is on another level. Biggest compliment you can give to a player is saying his only real weakness are his injury issues. Every time he plays, he is practically best player in this Atletico Madrid team. But he was out for some time before, so that is something to be careful about. Other than that, he is elite level midfielder. Last, but not least, Alex Scott. What Alex Scott has above Barrios is his durability and the fact that he is already used to Premier League. Aldo he isnt insane passer, he is so much better than Wharton OOP, and that would suit Caicedo more, allowing him more freedom to go forward aswell. What i love about Scott also is the fact that he reads the game really well. He will step out to get interceptions, he is brave w/o the ball, and has tons of flair to break out of press. He is very well rounded and can become absolutely special player ( definitely on his way ). To sum it up, if these 3 were fully fit, Barrios is the best player here, no question about that. And he suits Xabi ball the best. But if Barrios injuries persist, then Scott is the right call here. I'd like to add that this is strictly comparison between these 3 and how they suit us. There is other midfielder out there aswell in WZE, Sučić, Tchouameni, Camavinga, Kone , Froholdt etc etc. Midfield market atm is deffo broken in terms of prices, but profile wise, you can get anything you need out there in next 2 windows. We just gotta choose wisely

OOP problems with wharton when we're already seeing problems down that left flank defensively (including rogers not tracking back consistently)

Absolutely. We should strenghten those zones and balance it out, not destabilise it even more. Thats why i want generalist profile more

Barrios if you could guarantee me he plays most of the games without fitness issues for sure is the move but that much money is a gamble with him when Scott is the safer option injuries wise

Thats why i didnt put things out of context and said it was fitness related aswell. Fit Barrios is levels above most players on the market. He just gotta stay fit. And tbf to him, he never had big injury or anything. Its mostly always smaller muscle ones, so there is hope

Exceptional breakdown mate. In my opinion, I think Scott is special and Barrios is right on that barrier

Ty broski 🤝 i cant lie, i think its other way around. I think Barrios is special, and Scott is yet to reach that. But he will, absolutely. Watching Barrios play football is just outworldly experience. He is elite imo

I’d put Froholdt above Wharton too, personally. He’s good in & out of possession

If he doesnt extend with Bour with added RC up until the january, just try and do the pre agreement for the summer. Fits both sides perfectly

In terms of talent, yes but Barrios has injury issues. I will not pay 100m for him.
