The UK Prime Minister Andy Burnham has said he would be “really concerned” to lose Manchester City’s Emirati owners from the Premier League. “They’ve been such a huge partner in the building of modern Manchester and obviously the building of Manchester City into the global force that it is.” More from @AdamCrafton_ âŹ‡ïž bit.ly/4dN8yG9

Let this be a salutary lesson to every voter out there. Reform will impoverish you, their base. Take away your ability to work if you’ve young children, and take away any benefits you might need to sustain your family. Your children won’t get preschool ed. It’s how they like it.

Do not use ‘your first home’ scheme. It’s a gov bailout of home builders at your expense!

Will flats be excluded? Because otherwise you’re throwing young people to the wolves: scammy freeholders on one side, negative equity on the other. This developer bailout is happening at breakneck speed, while you drag your feet on the manifesto promise to end leasehold.
We’re acting to support those who can’t rely on help from the bank of Mum and Dad. Our Your First Home scheme will help more families get their first rung on the housing ladder with a deposit of just 2.5%. Less to save upfront and a 20% equity loan to bring down monthly costs. With pre-registration set to open by the end of the year, help is on the way for first-time buyers.

Leaseholders of Holborn and St Pancras, make your votes count! Labour have been woeful up to & including @AngelaRayner ‘s lame LBC interview this morning. I hate Polanski, but on this I’d hold my nose and vote for him. Punish them or nothing will ever change.
.@UKLabour are asking for our votes in Holborn & St Pancras. @Sagal_AW ignored our request for help over 53 Agar Grove in 2025. @andyburnham knew my family growing up, my sister even used to look after his chinchillas. The invitation is simple: come and see the building.

New British-built accessible trains are welcome, but these trains won't be owned by GBR - they'll be leased from private profiteers. All new rolling stock should be publicly owned. It's time to Own Our Trains. aslef.org.uk/OwnOurTrains
TransPennine Express is to receive in 2034 29 five-car battery electric Adessia Stream trains built by Alstom in Derby, DfT said tonight. Rock Rail will own the ÂŁ1bn fleet which features level boarding and 3 wheelchair spaces, leasing it to TPE. Production starts in 2028.

If we want denser housing around stations and in cities, a functioning apartment market matters. A generation watching friends become trapped by service charges and toxic leases isn’t much of an advertisement for flat ownership. Me for @theipaper inews.co.uk/opinion/one-law-

Early indicators are pointing to an impending collapse in leasehold sales, with warning signs showing the market is entering a critical downward phase. A precursor to a catastrophic decline, affecting the whole property market. Leaseholders, lenders and the economy as a whole.

Matt Frei, "The number of asylum seekers living in hotels has halved in a year" - If Labour could do this, why didn't the Conservatives? - Did the Conservatives create this anti asylum seeker situation to stoke division in the country and to perpetuate a culture war?

Arm yourself with our briefing. If you don’t respond by tomorrow night’s deadline, you’re emboldening the leasehold mafia to extract even more concessions from this government. Even if ground rent doesn’t affect you, stick up for leaseholders and make your voice heard: freeleaseholders.org.uk/our-

As prospective house buyers get wise to the legal noose they place around their own neck when buying a leasehold, growing numbers of flats stand empty and unsold. These offers to prospective buyers can’t offset the risk of uncontrolled future service charges. End leasehold now!
Housebuilders are offering to pay buyers’ estate agent fees in a desperate attempt to offload luxury new-builds. Oakley, a developer in Sussex, said it would cover the costs as an incentive for buying an apartment at the Argentum development in Hove, according to an email seen by The Telegraph. telegraph.co.uk/money/proper

Meanwhile, housing associations such as L&Q refuse to help shared owners struggling with unaffordable service charges, unable to remortgage, or trapped in properties they can’t sell.

The understanding of the cash trap that leasehold occupation entails is what keeps prospective buyers away. The unknowable and uncontrollable cash demands that freeholders can legally impose is what is killing the market in flats. End leasehold now!

Wake up, Westminster! The system can no longer manufacture consent for the leasehold scam. We won’t take to the streets like France’s Gilets Jaunes or India’s Cockroach protesters. The English are doing something less obvious, but just as devastating: voting with our wallets.

This can't be stressed enough with leaseholds in England & Wales, particularly with service charges & ground rent. It's up there with private parking charges as one of the biggest scams going. Leaseholds were banned in Scotland many years ago.
Public service announcement: do not buy a leasehold flat. In addition, if you're buying a new build housing development type thingie house, make sure that it is not leasehold. Here endeth the lesson.

Leasehold is the problem, ie huge uncontrollable service charges and ground rents. Abolish leasehold and things will start moving again
