This. BBC is a like a jenga tower,IMO. The more pieces its management remove from the bottom,the more its roots+connections with communities are broken.Reliable local news is vital in a disinformation age+serving less online+less affluent audiences is public service broadcasting.
This is bad news and I think itâs the wrong thing for the BBC to do. Local broadcasting and reporting on local democracy, organisations & events is arguably more vital now than ever. Fewer outlets do but it is true public service to do so. Much original journalism starts locally.

An opportunity to see Elton John in a 600-capacity venue with tickets priced at ÂŁ40 was only ever gonna end one way for me; I hit the app at 9am, tickets were sold out a minute later.
đś A new London stage is officially open for business.
Elton John will headline the opening night at Apple Music Hall inside @batterseapwrstn today, kicking off a star-studded run of live shows through the end of 2026. Baby Keem, Skye Newman, Troye Sivan, Arlo Parks, Burna Boy, Chase & Status and Charli xcx are all set to follow.
Located inside Battersea Power Station, Apple Music Hall has a capacity of 600 and features a reconfigurable 38-foot-wide stage, alongside a 48-speaker spatial sound system.

Sad to hear that The Mighty Sparrow, a Grenadian-born titan of calypso, has died aged 91.
Born Slinger Francisco in 1935, he began his career in the 1950s, going on to triumph for decades with hit songs such as Jean and Dinah, Congo Man, and Saltfish. Rest in power, Sparrow.
