It’s reckless for Speaker Johnson to send everyone home when we need bold, national action on AI safety now.
PabloReports: Congressman, real quick, tell us about this briefing on AI that you just left in the Senate. Deluzio: Yeah, look, I think the American people expect us to respond to potential national emergencies. We’re hearing from experts that there’s a potential for catastrophe. It’s not 100%, but there’s a real percentage of this, and we should be doing something. It’s reckless for the House to be sent away from Washington for seven weeks. This requires bold action. This requires us to come together, do something on AI safety. Leaving town because you want your members to campaign is a real abdication of responsibility.

So what does National action do when competing countries are continuing to develop AI? You going to ask China pretty please stop while we figure out how to do it? This is the dumbest hill for Liberals to die on. Yes let’s stop developing something that we’re afraid of while China perfects it. Genius idea!
