Corporations rake in money and never have to actually transfer any kind of ownership.

The fewer of us who willingly play by their rules, the more pressure they will feel to change. Just because there are rules doesn't mean it's moral to follow them... Sometimes following the rules means more people lose their consumer rights.

Utah’s new law targeting VPNs and porn websites has been temporarily blocked by a federal judge.
The law would have forced adult websites to verify that users were actually in Utah, even if they were using a VPN. It also banned sites from explaining how people could use VPNs to get around the rules.
Pornhub owner Aylo sued Utah, arguing that the law is basically impossible to follow because VPNs are designed to hide a user’s real location.
The judge agreed there’s a serious problem: websites can’t reliably know where someone physically is when they’re using a VPN.

過去作品まで公開停止になっている。
これを「カード会社による表現規制」とみるのは本質を外している。
これは金融インフラとして異常動作ではなく、むしろ設計どおりの正常動作である。
現時点では、カードブランド、アクワイアラー、決済代行会社など、決済のどのレイヤーが動いたのかは分からない。だが、もっと重要なのは、金融インフラにとってこれは異常事態ではなく、正常な挙動だということだ。
金融システムは作品を読んで「これは芸術だから許そう」「これはフィクションだから問題ない」と判断するために作られていない。
見ているのはリスクである。
マネーロンダリング、テロ資金、人身取引、性的搾取、制裁、訴訟、ブランド毀損……こうしたリスクを見逃した場合、金融機関や決済事業者は責任を問われる。一方、危なそうな取引や加盟店を広めに止めても、通常それ自体で大きな制裁を受けるわけではない。
ならば合理的な行動は「怪しいものは安全側に倒す」になる。
しかも、この判断は一社だけで完結しない。国際的な金融規制、カードブランド、銀行、アクワイアラー、決済代行、プラットフォームと何層にも連鎖する。上流では抽象的だった「リスク」が、下流へ行くほど具体的な禁止項目へ翻訳されていく。
その結果、誰かが「この漫画を消せ」と命令しなくても、最後には漫画が消える。
だから「カード会社このやろう」で終わってはいけない。
問題なのは悪い企業が勝手に検閲していることではなく、誰も検閲官でなくても検閲と同じ結果を生み出せる金融インフラが出来上がっていることだ。
この仕組みをFATFからカード会社、決済代行、プラットフォームまで遡って書いたのが拙著『「デジタル主権」戦争』第3章「金融インフラという最終兵器」である。

California is starting to build a much more hands-on AI control system.
Newsom’s new executive order calls for proposals around “kill switches” for frontier models, outside auditors embedded inside AI labs, and a state registry deciding who is qualified to perform those audits.
It doesn’t impose those rules yet but it does start building the bureaucracy and enforcement structure that could make them real.
The fight is over who gets that power.
