Oh this story is delicious. Some choice parts for you:

Really interesting answer here that I tend to agree with in terms of Europe, but I think the next administration will probably try aggressively to restore the Canadian relationship. We cannot isolate ourselves from Canada militarily or economically. Our destinies are intertwined
At the @WarsawForum, I asked Democratic Congressman Jim Himes what would change and what would remain the same in US-Europe relations with a new Democratic Administration? Himes provided a pretty clear and realistic overview. #WSF2026

You’re all such unserious people
At this point, DSA should remove him from the organization. It would be pretty easy given he is in violation of R22, if I'm not mistaken. If he isn't going to submit to the demands of the movement, he should face consequences.

It’s always bothered me that the Boston Globe took down this article because every time I see a story like this I want to post it: web.archive.org/web/20210504…
TMZ reports he took his own life. If you’re thinking of harming yourself, call 988. Your life is too precious and those thoughts of self-harm are a pernicious evil lying to you.

Are the last three episodes of Mad Men season 3 the best 3-episode stretch in the history of television? I think so
#Halloween episode of Mad Men “The Gypsy and the Hobo” (Season 3, Episode 11) was... a lot of fun?

MAD MEN is the #1 show of the century, probably all-time. Unparalleled depth, performances, themes, emotions; the best drama that is also somehow the best comedy. I know this; you know this; your mom knows this. We don't have to be babies who pretend otherwise.

I am extremely happy to see that “let people smoke meth on the subway” leftism is finally dying out
🚨 At the U20 Mayors Summit, Mamdani Says the Left Has Ceded “Quality of Life,” “Efficiency,” and “Fraud and Waste” to the Right This was one of the more interesting arguments Zohran Mamdani made today at the U20 Mayors Summit, and a reminder that he can be genuinely sharp when he drops the “central casting” routine. “In New York City, there are certain words that have taken on ideological associations.” “Quality of life has come to be seen as somehow a right-wing concern. Efficiency… has been taken on as a right-wing concern, rooting out fraud and waste, a right-wing concern.” Mamdani’s argument is that refusing to engage those issues actually helps the Right. “If you are staring at an example of social disorder or social inefficiency, and the left refuses to explain either why it has happened or how they will fix it, then the right gets to point at someone in the immediate area and say, ‘That’s who did it.’” The harder question is how much of the broader Left is actually prepared to follow the advice.

You've got to admire the strength of Irish PR. A ultra-neoliberal corporate tax haven entirely dependent on US pharmaceutical giants for it's wealth is somehow left wing coded
The Irish are probably the best white people

lunatic in the White House: behold and despair
Something you don’t see every day. “O Canada” gets a standing ovation from a packed stadium in Buffalo. Thousands of Americans on their feet for the Canadian anthem. 🇨🇦🤝🇺🇸 Sometimes the relationship between Canadians and Americans looks a lot different on the ground than it does online. x.com/jpuopolo/status/210074…

A report from the excellent Israeli human rights organization @btselem, documenting the systematic oppression in the West Bank. And American financial and diplomatic support makes the US complicit.
Israel is dismantling Palestinian collective life in the West Bank. A catastrophe is unfolding across the West Bank. Checkpoints, expulsions, killings and land takeovers are not separate events or isolated human rights violations. They are part of the same system. It is time to connect the dots. Our new report, The Elimination Project, shows how these mechanisms form one political project: dismantling Palestinian collective life while expanding Israeli control and Jewish presence. Since late 2022, and especially since October 2023, this process has accelerated and become more openly violent. Palestinians live under constant threat from soldiers and armed settler militias. Since 7 October 2023, Israel has killed 1,107 Palestinians, including 245 children. State-backed settler farms and outposts seize vast areas, communities are expelled, and movement restrictions fragment Palestinian space. Israel is also strangling the Palestinian economy, criminalizing political and social organizing, shutting down civil society organizations and arresting journalists and activists. Together, these mechanisms cut Palestinians off from land, livelihoods and one another, dismantling the conditions they need to exist as a people – with institutions, leadership, shared history and a political future. The Elimination Project is not new. Its logic has shaped Israeli policy for decades through dispossession, fragmentation, military rule and apartheid. In 2017, Bezalel Smotrich published the “Decisive Plan,” centered on making Jewish-Israeli control irreversible. It gives Palestinians three options: relinquish their collective aspirations and live under Jewish supremacy, leave, or face military repression. Under the current government, central elements of this vision are being translated into policy, budgets, powers and practices. In Gaza, this logic has reached its most extreme manifestation: the genocide Israel is committing there. The international community must stop treating Israel’s violence and violations as isolated incidents, stop enabling Israel’s crimes, and end the impunity that allows the Elimination Project to continue. Connect the dots. See the system. Read more in our new report. btselem.org/the_elimination_…

Yep. One of the frustrating things about the post 9/11 era was the way people imported *their* grievances against America into the jihadist case against America. But the actual jihadists were saying things like, "We want to rule the world with Islam and hate your constitution."
All of this is actually true by the way. Jihadist writings explicitly say that their deep-seated ideological hatred for the West is because of our religious and social freedom and its corrupting influence. They do hate our foreign policy too but that’s a secondary thing.
