Great idea! - and why not fund all clinical research through MRFF. This would redefine the NHMRC as the body that is responsible for funding fundamental biomedical research.
Careers of discovery researchers are in peril. So much relief could be achieved simply by funding Clinical Investigator Awards from the MRFF, leaving NHMRC to fund Investigator Awards in basic/discovery research. Everyone wins and it’s only a decision away.
