Ten years ago today, Colin and I started this channel. I remember the jitters of looking at it for the first time. It could be anything, it could take us anywhere. I was curious about the people who would watch, curious about the videos we'd make, curious about the collaborators we'd find along the way. We sat down and wrote our vision for the channel and for the company. It was hard to picture much beyond one very clear dream: a cool office in Venice, filled with creative people we really loved working with. It's been harder than I could have imagined. For the first five years, it didn't work. We couldn't make money. We could barely grow. But we kept coming back to the upload button. It was irrational, and I couldn't imagine doing anything else. Being a creator is the best version of life I could imagine. It's been a privilege to tell stories here for ten years, to call it a career, to call YouTube home, to create for all of you and with the creator community. And most of all, to create alongside our team. In our office in Venice. YouTube is the ticket to the extraordinary.

Over the last few months, YouTube creator/director @markiplier has acquired an 8.5% stake in @GoPro. He’s the camera company’s largest individual shareholder. I spoke with Mark about why he’s betting on a company that is at risk of insolvency. bloomberg.com/news/newslette…
