๐จ๐จ๐ฐ๐ทShocking Korea News: Spousal expenses are also paid by the NEC... Roh Tae-ak and Roh Tae-ak, former chairman of the National Election Commission, have all been confirmed to have accompanied their spouses on three overseas business trips during his tenure. In particular, the spouse's air and lodging expenses were paid by the NEC's budget, and the open document was found not to be related to the couple's companionship. According to the "Plan for Overseas Business Trip to Consultate on Exchange and Cooperation Measures of Overseas Election Management Organizations" submitted by the National Election Commission by Yang Boo-nam of the Democratic Party of Korea on the 17th, Roh visited Germany and Estonia with his spouse for a schedule of 7 nights and 9 days on November 2024.
At that time, the business trip cost about 71.94 million won. Air fares, rail fares, stay expenses, and reserves were all reported to have been spent on the NEC's budget.
In addition, according to data submitted by the Central Election Commission to Yang Boo-nam on "Plan for Overseas Business Trip to Develop the Election System and Promote the International Network," former chairman Roh visited Copenhagen, Denmark and Stockholm, Sweden, for eight nights and 10 days in November last year.
The business trip was also accompanied by a "couple." About 90.53 million won spent on the business trip was paid by the NEC's budget.
However, it was found that the fact that the spouse accompanied him on these three overseas business trips was not included in the external public documents announced by the NEC after the fact.
In response, the NEC explained, "As the head of the constitutional institution, it is necessary to consider the courtesy corresponding to his position and role, so we have compiled the spouse's budget since the budget was drawn up."
