If the billions Trump is raising from tariffs, foreign governments, and executive action aren’t taxpayer dollars, then whose money is it? And where is it going? These are not academic questions. When the President’s family and friends stand to benefit from government contracts and critical industries, Congress has an obligation to follow the money. There cannot be one set of rules for Trump and his family and another for everyone else.

Yosemite is not for sale. Full stop. I joined @RepHuffman, @RepJimCosta, @SenAlexPadilla, @SenAdamSchiff, and a bipartisan group of my colleagues to demand the Trump Administration stop its proposed Yosemite land transfer. The damage that Hurricane Marie has wreaked on Orange County’s coastline has been devastating, forcing families out of their homes and causing massive damage to our beaches, roads, and infrastructure.   I welcome Orange County’s declaration of a local emergency, and we are exploring options for broader actions to ensure that we have the federal, state, and local resources we need to both recover from this disaster and also to prepare for what may come this winter.

I voted in favor of the Lindsey O. Graham Sanctioning Russia and Iran Act of 2026 because this legislation is an unequivocal condemnation of Vladimir Putin’s illegal war with Ukraine.  To be clear, like so many of the bills Republicans have pushed forward over the past 20 months, this legislation is flawed. While I understand the concerns that some of my colleagues have with certain aspects of this bill, I believe Congress must do all that we can to help Ukraine and stop Russian aggression, and this bill does just that, by imposing harsh economic sanctions on Russia and those who continue to do business with Russia.  Trump is the most lawless President in history, breaking laws and violating the Constitution in unprecedented ways. But I do not believe his lawlessness should prevent us from going after bad actors or helping our allies. Right now, Ukraine is at a critical juncture in its fight for freedom, and this legislation has the potential to end this war and give Ukraine the peace it has long sought.

The Trump family has made BILLIONS from business ventures while Trump has been back in power under the most corrupt administration in history, bar none. Meanwhile, Jared Kushner is helping shape U.S. foreign policy while running a private investment firm backed by billions from Middle Eastern sovereign wealth funds. So I asked the obvious question: who is enforcing the conflict-of-interest rules here?

Americans are struggling with the cost of gas, energy, groceries, and housing. House Republicans’ priority? Another attack on California state rights. After going after our ability to set cleaner standards for cars, they’re now targeting longstanding clean-air protections at our ports—rules that keep diesel pollution out of coastal communities like Orange County.

I’m heartbroken by the devastating news out of Chatsworth. Orange County native and longtime aerial reporter Eliana Moreno was among those tragically killed in yesterday’s helicopter crash while covering the news for NBC4 and Telemundo 52. My heart is with the loved ones of every person who lost their life, those injured, the NBC4 and Telemundo 52 newsrooms, and all those impacted by this horrific tragedy. I’m grateful to the first responders who rushed to the scene and continue to support the community in the aftermath.

The rent is too damn high and Orange County is no exception. I recently held a renters roundtable, where I heard from tenants paying as much as $3500 for a 1BR apartment and veterans skipping meals to afford their rent.  No one should have to make these choices to keep a roof over their head. We need to do more, including making it easier to build quality housing and increasing federal funding for affordable housing. I’m taking these stories back to DC as I keep fighting to lower housing costs.

Tough to see the devastation that Hurricane Marie has wreaked on our beautiful Orange County coastline, including at Aliso Beach, Capistrano Beach, Balboa Post, and Laguna Beach. We stand ready to assist and are exploring what we can do to address the coastal erosion that threatens not only our beaches but so many homes in this area.

Let’s be clear what Howard Lutnick is admitting here— Trump’s illegal seizures of equity shares of major companies and his illegal fees charged to wealthy immigrants are “not taxpayer funds” i.e., they do they are off the books and don’t belong to the American people. F off Howard. That money was received because of the power of the federal government, and it belongs to us, not you or Donald Trump. Shanah Tovah U’Metuka to all those celebrating Rosh Hashanah!   I’ve heard firsthand from so many of you about the fear and uncertainty you are feeling in the face of rising antisemitism. I know this has been an especially difficult and painful year for many families across our community.   As you enter a new year, I’m wishing you and your loved ones peace, strength, good health, and renewal. May the year ahead be a sweeter, safer, and more hopeful one for all.

Twenty-five years ago, 2,977 innocent people lost their lives on September 11th.   But what I remember from that time was the courage of those who rushed into the wreckage and rubble, and the unity our country displayed afterwards.   Today we remember those who died on 9/11 and honor those who rushed in to help. May we reclaim our courage and unity as a country.
