On 30 July, UK Foreign Secretary said Europe’s wildfires "remind us that the climate crisis is happening now" NASA’s satellite record, 1 January to that day: Europe’s burned area was 3rd lowest The fires were real. They were not evidence that Europe was burning more than ever
The wildfires in Europe remind us that the climate crisis is happening now. It knows no borders and impacts us all. The UK, France and Spain are committed to the Paris Agreement. We will continue working together to build resilience and tackle climate change.

This is the question nobody seems interested in asking. For roughly 80 years, global annual CO₂ emissions have followed a remarkably persistent upward trajectory. During that time we've had decades of climate-crisis warnings, international treaties, climate summits, emissions targets, carbon taxes, mandates, subsidies and enormous expenditures intended to reduce emissions. And yet the global emissions curve still looks remarkably similar to the long-term trend. So here's the question: What exactly has all of this accomplished in terms of the stated goal... reducing global annual CO₂ emissions?

More than half a million balsa trees are illegally logged in the Amazon each year, largely driven by the demand for wind turbine blades. As plantation supply runs short, logging has moved into protected rainforest and indigenous territories. Roads are cut into intact jungle, habitats are fragmented, and local ecosystems are disrupted. Balsa is lightweight and essential for turbine construction. Demand has surged due to the West's environmental push, but the supply chain is largely untracked at source. The result is an ignored cost: so-called "green" energy, cut down and shipped.

Almost all the reinforced concrete foundations of wind turbines ever built — weighing up to a thousand tonnes each — could be left in the ground. The concrete may be mostly inert, but over the decades, these blocks can disrupt deep-soil hydrology and remain as permanent industrial junk below the surface of rural landscapes. The concrete base of a typical early 2-3 MW wind turbine weighs 400 to 800 tonnes. But the foundations of the even bigger, more recent turbines (5 MW+) can exceed 1,000 tonnes. The number reaching the end of their working lives could soon surpass the tens of thousands. As they degrade, they also risk leaking gearbox fluids, hydraulic liquids, and synthetic lubricants into the soil. In many jurisdictions, decommissioning regulations only require the operator to clear the foundation to a depth of 1 meter below the surface. While contracts state operators are responsible, the financial reality is complex. Bank guarantees or bonds set aside for removal (around $100,000 per turbine) are woefully inadequate. Real-world estimates for total removal and site restoration can exceed $200,000 to $400,000 per unit. If the cost of total removal vastly exceeds the bond, there is a strong incentive for shell companies to declare bankruptcy — leaving landowners to foot the bill. We are already seeing this play out at Victoria's Codrington wind farm. Operators announced plans to remove only the top 1.5-meter pedestal, leaving the bulk of the project's 20,000 tonnes of subterranean foundations permanently buried. This triggered an intense backlash from local communities and MPs who argue it violates the original promise to restore the land. No one wants to deal with these massive concrete and steel monoliths once the turbines are decommissioned.

In 2016, the Netherlands Meteorological Institute adjusted temperatures at De Bilt, the country's main climate station. Daily maximums from 1901 to 1950 were lowered by up to 1.9C, which removed 16 of 23 heatwaves from the record. The altered data were then used to claim modern heatwaves were unprecedented. Four researchers challenged the changes, but the institute dismissed the criticism, so the analysis went to peer review. In 2021, it was published, conclusively demonstrating the institute's method systematically erased historical heat extremes. Today, the Meteorological Institute has quietly changed its approach, and as a result, seven erased heatwaves have been restored, including the extreme summer of 1947. Here again, we have a government agency caught rewriting climate history. The Netherlands Meteorological Institute erased heatwaves of the past, ignored critics, and reinstated the truth only when the evidence became impossible to ignore. Policies were built on that manipulated record. Dutch farmers lost livelihoods. Industry and the wider economy paid the price. But accountability is coming.

Last year, headlines declared the Great Barrier Reef “devastated” after its worst coral decline on record. What they rarely mentioned: the decline came from record highs, and 2025 was still the fourth-best year in four decades. Now coral is growing again. latimes.com/opinion/story/20…

Our Bureau of Meteorology can’t be trusted. They have engaged in all sorts of trickery to create an artificial warming trend in the long term data.
Australia's Bureau of Meteorology has been audited station by station. The report reveals that the agency has systematically erased cooling trends from the historical record, replacing them with synthetic warming. At Rutherglen, Victoria for example, raw data from 1913 to 2006 showed a cooling trend. But the Bureau's adjusted chart flips this into warming. No physical justification, just statistical sleight of hand. Comparisons at Deniliquin also reveals the tactic - how past highs have been lowered to fit the narrative. Minimums from 1910 onward here are reduced by as much as 1.8C. These edits weren't based on new evidence. They were applied decades later by opaque homogenization models. The report's author calls it the rewriting of Australia's temperature history. But it's not just happening in Australia. Climate agencies in the UK and US have also cooled the past so as to exaggerate or even fabricate modern warming trends. This manipulated data is then paraded as truth by politicians and the media with the original measurements buried.

Bill Clinton: “I killed myself trying to give the Palestinians a state. I had a deal they turned down that would have given them all of Gaza and 97% of the West Bank. You name it. They turned it down.” The Palestinians never wanted peace. This must be shared every single day.
