I'm sure the doctors are aware of this; that the victim needs to be put on prophylactic treatment.

It is very hard to overstate how important a battered but determined press has been in connecting open justice, accountability, and the battle against state capture. Litigation here by @amaBhungane, @News24 and @dailymaverick continues that track record.
A win for open justice and access as the SSA capitulates at the Pretoria High Court. The media and public now have access to a major state capture trial. news24.com/investigations/ss…

My take on King Charles gift to Aung San Suu Kyi: Phil Robertson, the director of Asia Human Rights and Labour Advocates, told The Telegraph the regime was using Ms Suu Kyi – who remains beloved in #Myanmar, formerly the British colony of #Burma – as a “propaganda tool in its quest for global legitimacy.” “Is sending a book on soil composting supposed to be a message to Aung San Suu Kyi that she should take up gardening, instead of leading the country she was legitimately elected to represent? Whatever the intent, it’s not likely to go down well with the Burmese people.” telegraph.co.uk/gift/4b903bf…

The Amazon is vital for planetary wellbeing. But over the last decade, criminal groups have extended their reach. The EU should work closely with its South American partners to address illicit activities and the violence they cause, and limit environmental damage. crisisgroup.org/cmt/europe/e…

The South African government seems uninterested in the two firebombing attacks on the Dalai Lama's representative. Merely a police matter, it says.

I always enjoy going to the dentist because I’m lucky to have very healthy teeth and my ego appreciates the assurances that all is perfect. But today for the first time I’ve been told I need to get a wisdom tooth removed. I entered the clinic cocky and left rather deflated 😂 It shows the importance of yearly checkups though, don’t miss yours!

It’s so far back that it’s impossible to brush and thus it is at risk of decay. It’s not paining me at the moment but I was told I should get it out sooner rather than later. Getting it removed in two weeks.

Well, if it's impossible to brush then you needn't take it as a mark against your good oral hygiene name.

A victory for open justice. The State Security Agency (SSA) has backed down following a legal challenge by amaBhungane and fellow media and civil society organisations, @News24 (Media24), @dailymaverick, @_FreeExpression (Campaign for Free Expression) and @mailandguardian, over secrecy surrounding the corruption trial of former spy boss Thulani ‘Silence’ Dlomo and his co-accused, Patrick Mshothola. The two face charges relating to the alleged misappropriation of R12-million in state funds. The case is a matter of significant public interest.  Read more via @News24: news24.com/investigations/ss…

“Dubbed “Zuma’s spy”, he headed a special operations unit at the SSA, which he pressed wholly into the then head of state’s service. He oversaw various clandestine intelligence operations which did not target the activities of foreign agencies operating in South Africa or help prevent breaches of national security by bad actors.  No, instead, Dlomo and his special operations unit – the original rogue unit – launched operations and interventions aimed at safeguarding the personal interests of Zuma and his political project. Under his watch, for example, Operation Mayibuye was activated, which sought to infiltrate the judiciary and the media, for example, and to ensure that Zuma’s interests were protected.”

#Water #Tshwane @nasiphim @Action4SA @HermanMashaba Good morning to you all, Is this correct?
This is the Temba Water Treatment plant in Tshwane. It was vandalised horrendously. It's operations have been shut. Why? It had no security. Why? The security contract was ended without a replacement. Why? Ask ActionSA MMC Hannes Coetzee. Why was TMPD not deployed? Ask the MMC again. Over the past week, previously employed security guards have been protesting outside Tshwane house. ActionSA promised to insource them. Nothing of the sort has happened. When the security contracts ended, guards across the city simply left their posts. The next day vandalism went through the ceiling.
