I say this with the utmost seriousness as a scholar of international political economy: the rules-based international order is dead.
At the UN General Assembly, Trump, in very casual language, talks about annihilating another country. The room stays quiet. No collective protest. No formal objection.
And this goes far beyond rhetoric.
The US *has* bombed Iran, in clear violation of international law.
The US *has* kidnapped Venezuela's head of state and is in the process of looting the country's natural resources, in clear violation of international law.
The US *has* tightened its blockade on Cuba, in clear violation of international law.
Then there is, of course, the genocide in Gaza, for which the US has provided unconditional support.
After World War II, the US was one of the primary architects of a system meant to encourage global cooperation. But the US has consistently broken that system's rules to advance its imperial interests.
The system has therefore lost all its legitimacy.
Trump to the UN: "Do I annihilate the Islamic Republic, and do it quickly? Do I drive them into hell?"

There is NO intimidation of anybody in Ireland.
Irish people are calling out genocide.
And that is unacceptable to the people who have supported Israel all the way through its outrageous behaviour in recent years.
They are the people who should be ashamed.
With days leading up to the Ireland/Israel match, I cannot even begin to describe to those outside Ireland how deranged things have become here.
But here is a snapshot: activists are protesting *our own national team* and entering the hotel they are staying that. Let me repeat that, Irish anti-Israel activists are protesting *our own national team*.
I am going to implore one thing of people internationally in advance of the match: please be as understanding as you can towards the Irish players. You cannot imagine the campaign of intimidation they have been subjected to; all stoked by the media, politicians, and well-funded activists.
They are just young football players and it is a disgrace that they are being subjected to this. If you see them on Sunday not shaking the hands of the Israeli players (or engaging in some similar act of disrespect), I ask you to be mindful as to the impossible position that they are in. Please look at the bigger picture here and do not be too hard on them.

Dan, it is far from a small minority in Ireland. and if one cannot raise a collective voice about genocide how can we claim to have any values?
All the must important Israeli scholars in the field say it is genocide. They are right. And we cannot ignore it
Second appearance on the main nightly TV news and again it is about the only Jewish majority state in the world. I don’t like to focus on individuals, but the Taoiseach needs to cop on. Our leader needs to focus on Ireland’s national interests, not the obsessions of a small minority about one distant conflict of many in the world.

BBC News spent Sunday referring to Jim Ratcliffe as one of Britain's richest men, except, he's an immigrant in Monaco, having moved there to avoid paying £4 billion in tax.
They screen him complaining about those on benefits, even though he grew up in a council house, went to state school, had free university education, and has taken hundreds of millions in public state support from the UK, French and German governments.
They screen him talking about broken Britain which is poor, but don't mention that he is a Brexiter, and Brexit has made the country poorer.
Our national broadcaster should have spent the day providing context to his criticisms, instead they wrapped it in a bow, pushed it out, to stoke further division in society.
I remember when the BBC was so much better than this, and I hope one day it will return to having better standards, than to simply churn out divisive nonsense masquerading as news and analysis.

Appalling the way that Ed Sheeran has been bullied by the mob. It shows the strength, power and reach of the Islamist network.
Their demands won't stop at Gaza.
If we want to save our countries from Islamism- Britain and the USA - we have to defund these people and build alternative infrastructure that can beat them.
Individual bravery is not enough.
