this lady did fundraising consulting for a losing race i worked on a few years back and all she cared about was tidbits of gossip surrounding the candidate, staff, and other consultants. an entirely unserious person but that does seem to be nymag’s profile of choice these days
Whenever Democratic political operatives gather to drink these days, they talk about three things: their chances in the midterms, who will be the nominee in 2028, and if they have read — or are in — “the book.” The book in question is ‘Nothing Left: Confessions of a Democratic Operative,’ by Evan Barker, a onetime fundraiser who has written something between a tell-all and a cri de coeur about her time inside the Democratic Party. But for many Democrats the book has been candy less because of its call for reshaping politics and more because, while peeling back the curtain on the inner workings of political campaigns, it names (some) names. “You want to tell the truth, and you want to tell people what happened, but at the same time my intention was never to just burn people needlessly to be vindictive,” Barker tells David Freedlander. “At the same time, it’s like, yeah, I knew that some of the stories in there might hurt some people’s feelings, but sometimes people need to get their feelings hurt.” Read more about the book that has Washington talking: nymag.visitlink.me/SzXKn-

Her arc is basically - low level staffer, mad that progressive orgs promoted Black women, married a tech bro who bought a SF house, had baby, other SF parents (described as exclusively white trust funders or H1-Bers) were rude and condescending to her so revenge voted for Trump

"the book" is right. FINALLY an honest and wise book exposing Democrats and DSA leftists for abandoning the working and middle class, and instead working only for criminals, drug addicts & illegal immigrants. Nothing Left is making EVERY Dem and DSA re-evaluate themselves. 💯

how shameful that she started as a low level staffer?! And that's not an arc. It's a career. Progressives can be snobby x.com/DavidPhelan3/status/19…
