this lady did fundraising consulting for a losing race i worked on a few years back and all she cared about was tidbits of gossip surrounding the candidate, staff, and other consultants. an entirely unserious person but that does seem to be nymag’s profile of choice these days
Whenever Democratic political operatives gather to drink these days, they talk about three things: their chances in the midterms, who will be the nominee in 2028, and if they have read — or are in — “the book.” The book in question is ‘Nothing Left: Confessions of a Democratic Operative,’ by Evan Barker, a onetime fundraiser who has written something between a tell-all and a cri de coeur about her time inside the Democratic Party. But for many Democrats the book has been candy less because of its call for reshaping politics and more because, while peeling back the curtain on the inner workings of political campaigns, it names (some) names. “You want to tell the truth, and you want to tell people what happened, but at the same time my intention was never to just burn people needlessly to be vindictive,” Barker tells David Freedlander. “At the same time, it’s like, yeah, I knew that some of the stories in there might hurt some people’s feelings, but sometimes people need to get their feelings hurt.” Read more about the book that has Washington talking: nymag.visitlink.me/SzXKn-

This is wild. The only reason I even know anything about her is because Dave Weigel did that podcast with her. No one is actually talking about this book or her.

You're doing the in-group/out-group thing. Someone critiques your in-group, so you synthesize bullshit to smear them. You don't care if what they said is true, you just want to attack the out-group. Very chimpish.

Hating AND lying in the same post! Don't be all peanut butter and JEALOUS because @evanwch can out fundraise anyone you know in your Democrat/DSA crazy-conjoined-twin party. You can't boast anything CLOSE to her resume and numbers. Prove me wrong. #StopHating #NothingLeft

"the book" is right. FINALLY an honest and wise book exposing Democrats and DSA leftists for abandoning the working and middle class, and instead working only for criminals, drug addicts & illegal immigrants. Nothing Left is making EVERY Dem and DSA re-evaluate themselves. 💯

The claim is always she's "raised millions" for Democrats, but there's just about zero evidence of this. Had a handful of small donations on Opensecrets and you cant' find much evidence of her involvement prior to her going for Trump.

Yeah, they can't refuse a thing you say so it just becomes personal attachs. Typical of the loser class.

Her arc is basically - low level staffer, mad that progressive orgs promoted Black women, married a tech bro who bought a SF house, had baby, other SF parents (described as exclusively white trust funders or H1-Bers) were rude and condescending to her so revenge voted for Trump

Yo she can't tell me exactly what "populism" means and wouldn't say if gas prices were an issue right now.

She also has a giant head and picked the worst time to publish her anti progressive book. Lady the moment was two years ago or maybe at some point in the future but definitely not right now

I didn't realize how young she was until recently. She's younger than me and I'm only 36. It's not like she's been working in Democratic politics for decades. I think she only graduated from college in 2015, the same year her choice for president in 2024 came down an escalator
