Ahead of Benjamin Netanyahu’s speech at the United Nations, hundreds of demonstrators led by Jewish Voice for Peace staged a sit-in protest in New York City on Thursday, stopping traffic for over an hour just three blocks away from the U.N.’s headquarters. Over 100 protesters were arrested. Many progressive and socialist elected officials participated, such as congressional candidates Darializa Avila Chevalier (NY), Adam Hamawy (NJ), Chris Rabb (PA) and Melat Kiros (CO). Other prominent figures also joined, including actors Elliot Page, Hannah Einbinder, Cynthia Nixon and Susan Sarandon.

Netanyahu is a war criminal who has continued to carry out a genocide in Gaza. He is not welcome in our city. So proud of every New Yorker who is standing up for Palestinians today. Solidarity today and everyday until Palestine is free 🇵🇸 ♥️
