New important data: - firearm-related IPV was 31% higher 2020-2024 than the previous 5 years (ineffective policies) -handguns IPV have INCREASED since being frozen (ineffective policies) -firearm IPV comes in at 22% while STABBINGS WERE 42% (we can put that argument to bed)
"Shooting was the cause of death for 294 victims of intimate partner homicide between 2009 and 2024. This represents one in five (22%) intimate partner homicides over this period, an average of 18 deaths per year." www150.statcan.gc.ca/n1/pub/…

Imagine making a statement commemorating D-Day and spending 75% of it talking about the suffering of the Germans.
This day is profoundly painful for so many New Yorkers. It marks three years since the horrific war crimes of October 7. On that day, Hamas killed more than 1,100 Israelis and abducted 251 others. We grieve alongside our many friends and neighbors who still carry that unthinkable loss. The suffering did not begin nor end that day. It instead continued through the Israeli government’s devastating, ongoing genocide in Gaza, in which it has killed more than 74,000 Palestinians—including more than 21,000 children. Even since the so-called ceasefire, more than 1,400 Palestinians have been killed. That suffering has intensified with every Israeli bomb dropped on ambulances waiting outside hospitals, every drone strike targeting a residential building or journalist, and every shipment of food aid turned away at a border crossing. Many New Yorkers are reckoning with this unbearable grief, and we mourn alongside them – all while knowing that our tax dollars fund these war crimes. Three years later, we must refuse to accept a world in which occupation and apartheid continue, where war crimes are met with impunity, and our federal government continues its complicity with every arms shipment. To honor the dead, we must fight for a world in which every person can live with freedom, safety, and dignity.

It has come to my attention that I have been denounced by @Advocates_Soc for criticizing judicial decisions — and yes, individual judges. Here's the thing. When someone, for example, spends her lawyerly career writing op-eds in favour of migration and calling herself an activist, and then becomes a federal judge, and from that seat allows all sorts of undesirables to remain in Canada on weak grounds, people are free to draw a connection from A to B. When a judge, for example, spends his lawyer years advocating fiercely for more race-based law, and then later throws out gun charges of black men on his (unsupported) assertion that police were racist during their arrests, people are free to question whether he's really a fair adjudicator. When a judge, for example, says that a ban on drug trafficking is unconstitutional, and then *applauds* vigilante drug dealers for their self-proclaimed safe supply program — applauds them for supporting the business of organized crime and feeding the addictions of street people — that's beyond the pale. You're worried about democracy being poisoned? Worry about the judge who threw out Parliament's law against selling heroin because she felt it was "common sense" that it was supported by science. I agree that it's not right to criticize a judge personally for impartially applying the law and coming to an unpopular decision (which they may even privately disagree with). But when their professional history, or their conduct in court, suggests allegiance to a cause that they happen to be ruling softly on, it will get noticed. Bringing the administration of justice into disrepute is a two-way street, you know.

Whoa 🤯 this is more insane than we thought. For Poly, they were clear there is a publication ban on the guns pending the determination by the courts. So no, you’re not entitled to that information right now. ▶️ shooter was obsessed with notoriety and other mass shootings ▶️ a 30 yr old trans man from the U.S. was encouraging/helping shooter ▶️ attempted to livestream attack ▶️ shooter had been in contact with US suspect for 3 years, planning ▶️ police still looking at other possible suspects
⚡️ #BREAKING: The @FBI and @BCRCMP respond to questions after announcing the arrest of a U.S. citizen in Washington state who allegedly provided advice, money, and agreed to livestream the #TumblerRidge tragedy, months before it happened. Watch 👇

Poly should probably stop interfering in police investigations. Their thirst for bans goes against public safety at this point. cbc.ca/news/canada/british-c…

🤣 True story. This skit came out 2 weeks after the Bin Laden raid & Riggle, McKay & Will Ferrell thought it up in a morning meeting. Rob O’Neill has always said “Yup… that’s pretty accurate” The best part is that they guessed the name McClellan & were right that it ended up being an IRISH-AMERICAN.
The night I got home from killing bin Laden, I got so drunk at the Ready Room @RobRiggle made a funny or die skit about it. When the NASA boys get home they always look like they’re being audited…😂

Today in 1993, two U.S. Blackhawk helicopters are shot down over Mogadishu, Somalia. 18 Americans are killed and 73 are wounded during the fight to recover the crews. Hundreds of Somalis die in the battle. The debacle leads to a scaling back of America's mission in the region.

Canada watching us botch a lethal injection
BREAKING: Tennessee Gov. Bill Lee is halting the state’s remaining execution for 2026 and ordering a third-party review after officials fail to execute death row inmate Christa Pike. Pike received two syringes of lethal injection Wednesday night but remained alive and could be heard snoring, according to her attorneys and media witnesses. Her legal team filed an emergency motion to stop the execution as the situation unfolded. Pike was later transported to an off-site medical facility. Lee says the state has a responsibility to ensure executions are carried out legally, constitutionally, and effectively. The full story and what happened inside the execution chamber: foxnews.com/us/supreme-court…

I can’t believe what I’ve just read 😳 "On board a Flydubai Boeing 737 (flight FZ1073 from Dubai to Tel Aviv), the captain and the first officer got into a fistfight. During the scuffle one of the pilots lost consciousness, and emergency codes were accidentally entered: first 7700 (general emergency), then 7500 (hijacking). The plane, with 180 people on board (including more than 100 Israeli citizens), briefly disappeared from radar. Israel scrambled fighter jets, and the prime minister and defense minister called an emergency meeting. Saudi Arabia also scrambled fighters. The aircraft was not allowed into Israeli airspace and was diverted for an emergency landing in Tabuk, Saudi Arabia. Israeli authorities and the airline ruled out terrorism. The Flydubai pilots who fought on the plane turned out to be a Ukrainian and a Russian, Israeli media report." What?

This video of the flight from Dubai plunging as the co-pilot appears to have tried to crash it is chilling. There were 174 passengers headed to Tel Aviv including 27 children. You can hear the kids scream. Thank goodness for the heroes on board.
