What is Mancer? Let's use something you already know. One share of stock.
You own one share. You won't sell it for less than $50. You set that price and wait and nothing happens until someone pays $50 or more.
With a normal broker, your share sits in their account while you wait. They're holding it, not you. With Mancer, your share never leaves your own wallet. Setting the price is just a signed note.
Someone still has to find you a buyer, with Mancer that's called a keeper. A normal broker does this too, checking a few places for your best price but Mancer's keeper checks every single place on the chain, all at once. π€―
Here's why that helps you. Buyers aren't all in one spot, they're spread out across a bunch of little counters. If you sell through just one counter, you might miss a better price sitting somewhere else. Mancer checks all of them at once and it can even sell your one share in pieces across a few counters if that adds up to more money for you.
The keeper only gets paid if your trade actually happens. So it's trying hard to find you someone, but it can never sell your share for less than $50. Not even a penny less. If the best anyone offers is $48, nothing happens. No trade at all and your share stays in your wallet.
If you change your mind, canceling is instant. You don't need permission from Mancer or anyone else. It was never anyone else's to hold in the first place.
On a normal exchange, that price rule is a promise, backed by rules and people you have to trust. On Mancer, it's built into the code itself. The trade goes through at your price or better, or it just doesn't happen. There is no middle ground where someone can give you less. It also performs instant swaps and scheduled recurring buys. They work the same but I am sticking with the price setting scenario since it's the easiest to picture.
Do you need one of the 5,000 Chain Mancer NFTs to trade like this? No. Anyone can use the tech right now, same as anyone can open a brokerage account. The NFT is something different. It's for people who want to own a piece of the exchange and get paid every time trades like this happen. It's not a ticket you need just to trade. So, if you want to trade a share there is no NFT needed. If you want to earn money every time someone else trades? That's what the NFT is for.
