On my three visits to Normandy I have always been impressed by the friendship and respect shown to Americans and it all has to do with D-Day and the subsequent events. Based on the rejection of Hegseth, it’s clear that all the good will has been squandered by this administration.

I attended an anniversary event a few years back in the French village where this happened to a US paratrooper. The whole town celebrated and the love and adoration for the US was palpable. For Hegseth to be uninvited is astonishingly bad for this administration.
