As much as this video is quintessential Virginia Tech... it was even better as my one and only Virginia Tech game I went to while living in Virginia!!! Yes, this is the Cal VT game I was at last year. The other game I saw? FSU UVA... stay tuned.
Kissed my wife goodbye this morning. She said “where you going?” I said Blacksburg. She said “Blacksburg?” I said Blacksburg. She said “what’s in Blacksburg?” I showed her this video. She said “…take me with you”

I did this last year... totally agree!
Re-watched REACHER Season One. Having been depressed since the last 2-3 episodes of S4, I decided to just take a look at Season one, episode one, and I could not stop. The pace is 5X faster that S4, the dialogue is crisp and smart. Reacher is a genius in S1, he figures things out ahead of everyone in town, miles ahead. He crushes every villain, including South American special forces. I recommend to everyone, re-watch Season One, it is awesome, and it is why Reacher is great!!

"The Blueprint: How Socialism Can Work in the Real World" They refuted themselves in the first chapter: "It’s true enough that no model dreamed up today will fully reflect the complexities of the real world tomorrow."
Today 'The Blueprint' by @mikejbeggs, @JacobinBen and @sunraysunray was released (this is my review copy). I cannot recommend it more strongly, my favourite book of the year. It brilliantly blends socialist horizons with a sober analysis of how such an economy could actually work

I am wary of putting predictions markets on the same list as sports betting. To my understanding predictions markets can be used to get in low and sell high, even before the finished result. SB is based on the result only, right?
50% of Young Singles/Couples and 60% of Young Families we just surveyed use sports betting apps or prediction market platforms. From a housing perspective, that’s not the ideal societal trend we’d like to see when it comes to saving for a down payment.

A day late, but Mises did have a significant impact on the culture of economic, even if his detractors say otherwise. Personally, I wouldn't be teaching if it weren't for MI and @ThomasEWoods. I would listen to him on the radio and months later decided to go back to school.
Ludwig von Mises was born 145 years ago today. The world is a very different place than it was back then, but Mises’s impact continues to be felt to this day.

What an interesting concept... would a company like Bucees take control of road maintenance for 100 miles in each direction if offered favorable zoning and building requirements. Not like building in a wetland, but 1 time submissions and control on advertising in the radius.
Because the Turnpike did a contract with a vendor that runs from 2009 through 2039. Was way before my time!

200 is unusual for sure (especially since I have none, 😆). But if the expertise can be applied in other areas and the ancillary tasks are streamlined, is itva surprise more papers are authored?
Lol: “One professor’s AI-assisted output: 200 papers and 14 books this year An online platform removed 257 papers written or co-written by the University of Chicago’s Nicholas Polson after other academics raised questions.” washingtonpost.com/education…

I lived in Tucson for almost a decade. It was very affordable considering alternatives. We traveled back last year for vacation. Unfortunately, the city has changed for the worst. Also, compared to the Phoenix metro, it seems light years behind.
Does anything here surprise you?

A big day for TSC and Wakulla County as we announced a $27.3M investment in our new Workforce Training and Resilience Facility. Thanks to Commissioner @HenryMackIII for joining us to celebrate this milestone and the opportunities ahead for our students, employers, and community.

All I hear is about the high cost of homes today... but not that the homes yesterday were smaller and most likely without AC, a dishwasher, and dual pane windows.

The US has essentially stopped building small/starter homes.

The fundamentals in economics are still at play in complex situations... with some "ifs". Hikes tend to lower CPI inflation which lead to real wages increases "if" pay holds up better than prices. This can bring people off the sidelines "if" jobs stay available. Those last two are conditions, not automatic next steps.
Hiking while labor share is plummeting?

I have seen these post before and what X needs is a "more context" button that automatically asks some pertinent questions like "when was the last time at, say, 50% usage" or "what occupation is the cardholder" to broaden the perspective. It looks like it was seldomly used.
Tell me the economy is COOKed without telling me it is COOKed ⬇️... My annual income is over 7 figures btw

Education and action is a dynamic combination.
There’s no rule saying you have to pick ONE type of real estate. 🏠 80–85 single-family homes 🏘️ Duplexes, triplexes & fourplexes 🏢 5, 6, 17 & 24-unit apartments 🚐 5 mobile home parks The interesting part isn’t just the number of doors. It’s how the portfolio evolved over time. Start with what makes sense. Learn the game. Keep buying good deals. Let the portfolio grow from there. What’s your preference: single-family, small multifamily, apartments, or mobile home parks? 👇 #RealEstateInvesting #RentalProperties #FinancialFreedom #CashFlow #Multifamily #RealEstateInvestor

Recently I had to remind myself that several students in class were not even alive for 9-11. How does this relate here. Older people knew the value of 2-4% rates. Younger people never knew anything else. They are going through economizing decisions testing willingness to pay.
30-year 7.17% Mortgage accelerates USA renter nation phenomenon. Persistent higher rates crush home sales, prevents new construction loans resulting in declining new supplies. This will mean higher prices & higher rents going forward. Home owners that have to sell will forfeit their equity & those that don’t will do nothing. Until existing homes sell you will not see lower prices. Bad for homebuyers, bad for home sellers, terrible for builders and good for landlords.

7%! Who saw that coming?
2023 rates would be 8.36% today, hug a mortgage spread; even the worst levels of last year meant rates close to 8%. 🫡

Saw this and a few thoughts. 1. If it was 1200, why even file? For 200 and higher premiums? 2. Do people think insurance is a warranty service (which also has a deductible)?
CAN SOMEONE ACTUALLY EXPLAIN HOW THIS IS LEGAL. A guy at work pays $210 a month for full coverage auto insurance. That's $2,520 every single year just to stay legal on the road. Last week, someone clipped his parked car in a lot and drove off. Total bumper damage: $1,200. He called his provider to file a claim. Their response: "Your comprehensive deductible is $1,000, and your monthly premium will likely go up if you report this." So he paid $1,000 out of pocket to fix damage he didn't cause, while paying $2,500 a year for "protection" he couldn't even use without getting penalized. You're literally paying a monthly fee for the right to cover your own repairs.

Tough game. Good win for SMU to overcome 4 turnovers. I love establishing the run... but my initial thought is the staff is scared to pass. Not a good sign.
