FIRE POINT CEO: UKRAINE MUST NEVER NEED PERMISSION TO DEFEND ITSELF 🇺🇦🇨🇳 Fire Point CEO Iryna Terekh says Ukraine’s 🇺🇦 defense industry is moving toward something strategically transformative: the ability to build and operate its own ballistic missiles without foreign kill switches or political permission. “If one private company can bring Ukraine to a VIP league of operators of their own independent ballistic missiles with no kill switch, we don't have to ask anybody if we want to conduct a self defense.” Terekh says Fire Point is not alone. Multiple Ukrainian private companies, she argues, have already achieved similar independence in other defense domains. That drive for sovereignty also shapes the supply chain. Terekh says the company actively tries to avoid Chinese 🇨🇳 electronic components because of concerns that manufacturers may be required to leave back doors accessible to the state. Her answer is aggressive vertical integration. “I'm verticalizing as crazy. Is it healthy from a business perspective? Probably not. This is definitely healthy from a national security interest.” For Terekh, national security also extends far beyond missiles, drones and the armed forces. Data centers, energy infrastructure and water systems all have to be treated as part of the same defense ecosystem. “If there's a terror to remove civilians from the cities, it would be hard to still save the economics, still save the defense business.” Her argument is ultimately about independence: Ukraine cannot base its survival on weapons, components or critical infrastructure that someone else can switch off.
