A high impact Nor’easter is pounding parts of the Mid-Atlantic and New England this morning with heavy rain, high wind and major coastal flooding.

With clear skies, the moonrise tonight and Sunday evening should be spectacular!

Flying from Mississippi to Hawaii yesterday it was mostly clear until we got about 300 miles out from the islands. Scattered clouds became a layer at 22k feet that we skimmed across the top of. Checking satellite imagery it turned out to be an extended band from Hurricane Nolo. After crossing through that there were just smaller puffy clouds that looked interesting as we landed as the sun was setting in Kauai. Time lapse below:

I was so honored to be invited to Coastal Carolina to honor the 2006 championship team. The Chants NFL alumni made their mark as pros but the program they built from that watermelon patch is truly remarkable. Coach David Bennett had a vision of what CCU could be. Seeing it 20 years later was pretty overwhelming in such a good way.

PACIFIC POPPIN’, ATLANTIC FLOPPIN’ Talk about a tale of two oceans. The Pacific is buzzing with tropical activity, with three hurricanes spinning at the same time, two of them major hurricanes. Meanwhile, the Atlantic is far less impressive. While there are two tropical storms, both are expected to gradually spin down and likely dissipate over the weekend. Beyond those two systems, the Atlantic remains largely quiet. For now, the Pacific is stealing the tropical spotlight!

Not the outcome we hoped for last night but still a great night in Conway. @Ry_Beard and @CoastalFootball will get it figured out. Great head coach and lots of talent! It was especially cool honoring the 2006 team with Coach Bennett last night. Many don’t know that @Rich_Chrampanis and I were there from the very beginning for Coastal’s first game against Newberry College on September 3, 2003. And the Chants won 21-14! I remember filming the goal posts coming down!

It feels amazing out there!

2:10 PM RADAR UPDATE - May wondering about the rain for tailgating and @CoastalFootball game later this afternoon and evening. We have a nice break now, with very little rain over the next 2-3 hours. I'll watch the scattered, mainly light showers along and west of I-95 as they head toward Conway. While some of these will fall apart, a few showers are possible later this afternoon through kickoff, but it doesn't look widespread or heavy. Wow. Storm near Conway this morning produced decent sized hail.

Picked up over an inch of rain at my house with these heavy showers. Radar estimates some areas are over 2”.

This is awesome. Gotta love Coach Bennett!
