NOR'EASTERS are "cold core" storms caused by cold continental air colliding with moist air over the Gulf Stream. Cold can be very dangerous! NOR'EASTERS have aroused fears for centuries in the northeast USA Examples of deadly NOR'EASTERS: 1950 — Great Appalachian Storm left 353 people dead. Hurricane-force winds, 30 inches of snow , and flooding. 1962 — Ash Wednesday Storm flooded towns two miles inland, destroying thousands of homes, hotels, and boardwalks. 1978 — Northeastern Blizzard of ’78 Killed 100 people, Boston and Providence set snowfall records while coastal flooding and wind compounded the snow.

Was waiting on this… they started building on that site in the 90’s knowing every 3-4 years the homes will be demolished by nor’easters. The insurance is so high they turn them into condos. 🤦🏻‍♀️

They got some fantastic pictures of boiling wave driven white water around some of the offshore islands from Southern Maine to Montauk.

Those houses should not be covered by insurance that we all have to pay for

Honestly pretty amazing that whatever drone your using (which must be expensive!) can stay put in that wind and give you that footage. Good for you to be willing to throw it up there (and knowing where, when and how) and get that amazing footage.

Wow, it’s a shame that climate change built those homes so close to the seawall.
