We have a new (HUGE 🚨) paper out in @CellRepSustain ! 🪲🌱
Agriculture both contributes to and suffers from climate change. As temperatures rise, insect pests are moving northward, increasing pressure on crops and our reliance on insecticides, which further adds to agriculture’s environmental footprint.
After monitoring more than 82,000 leafhoppers over two years, we found that migratory species increase with warmer temperatures, while commonly used insecticides have limited effects on their populations. The good news? Native parasitoid wasps track and attack these dominant pests, offering a promising foundation for climate-resilient pest management that conserves beneficial insects and reduces insecticide use.

Quebec Premier Christine Fréchette says the U.S. approached Quebec about negotiating a separate trade deal with America, and she turned it down because Quebec wanted to maintain a common Canadian front.
I’ve been suspicious for a while about Washington’s interest in Canada’s internal divisions.
And we already know Alberta separatist groups have met with U.S. State Department officials multiple times to discuss Alberta’s potential separation from Canada.
Does this prove the U.S. is behind Alberta’s separatist movement? No! But it certainly raises questions about how interested Washington is in Canada becoming less united.
Meanwhile, 72% of Albertans say they would vote to remain in Canada, according to an Ipsos poll. Only 18% said they would vote for separation.
So while the separatist bots can be VERY loud online, the numbers tell a different story.
Canada is still Canada and will remain United 🇨🇦

Just to be clear, 70 of my papers were published before AI 😅 Back then, it was just me, my co-authors, and Google Translate doing our best 😂
But 200 papers a year? That is total craziness. And somehow, institutions will still be posting: “Awesome job, ‘Dave’! 🎉 Congratulations on being named one of the most cited and productive researchers in the world!” 😅
A professor published 200+ papers and as many as 14 books this year. I'll leave it there.

The path forward for the International Student Program is clear: Canada will continue to welcome a sustainable number of talented international students to our world-class institutions while creating targeted opportunities to retain skilled graduates who can help grow our economy and strengthen our public services.
The shift is already underway:
• 80% fewer new international students arrived in Canada between January and July 2026, compared with the same period in 2024.
• The international student population has dropped by more than 40% since its peak (June 2024).
• University students accounted for 40% of new study permit holders in 2025, up from 30% in 2024.
We’re also making it easier for highly qualified graduate students to choose Canada, including 2-week processing for new PhD students and an exemption from the provincial or territorial attestation letter requirement for master’s and doctoral students.
Canada has been charting a new course for immigration—one that welcomes the world’s best talent while keeping population growth sustainable and better aligning arrivals with community capacity.
