A recent New York Times/Siena poll put Hinojosa at 49% and Abbott at 46% among likely voters — a staggering reversal for the incumbent Republican governor. For context, Democrats have not won a statewide race in Texas since 1994. Pritzker, who has an estimated $4.2 billion, is one of the very few good billionaires because he puts his money to work for the American people. Since the beginning of 2025, he has donated over $38 million to Democratic candidates and organizations. This man believes in putting his money where his mouth is. In addition to being good politics, Pritzker's material support of Hinojosa has an added wrinkle. He and Abbott have repeatedly clashed in the past. Abbott bused migrants to Chicago in a deeply inhumane PR stunt, Pritzker supported the Texas Democrats who fled the state during Abbott's gerrymandering push in 2025, and Abbott authorized the deployment of the National Guard to Chicago to aid in Trump's brutal immigration crackdown.
