From Call #60, EGD’s take: Legislation and narratives aren’t our job. Grants should go to public goods you can test and audit: clients, infrastructure, and optional work like ML-DSA. The weekend core-geth release was sold as a security update, then changed bootnodes and reached mining pools. Whatever the intent, that raises the risk of operators running the wrong binary. Verify the repo and checksum. Core development needs funding, but it should stay voluntary and accountable — not a protocol tax. An unclear release path helps no one.
