Researchers built an AI that doxes any "anonymous" reddit account in under a minutes for $2. eth zurich and anthropic published a terrifying paper proving that "practical anonymity" on the internet is officially dead. they built a fully autonomous ai pipeline that takes your pseudonymous posts, extracts your identity signals, searches the web, and figures out exactly who you are. no human investigator needed. the numbers are actually mindblowing.. - 67% of hacker news users identified correctly - when the system makes a guess, it is right 90% of the time - it even unmasked scientists whose interview transcripts were explicitly redacted for privacy the scariest part? even time doesn't protect you.. they tested users who took a full year break and changed their interests. the ai still matched their old and new profiles with 90% precision. it sees through your persona changes like they aren't even there. there is no defense against this. the agent splits the work into tiny, benign tasks like "summarizing a profile" or "ranking candidates." no api safety guardrail is going to flag it because no single step looks malicious.. every throwaway account. every "nobody will connect this to me" comment. it’s all just searchable micro-data now.
Community note
Paper shows LLM agents re-ID 67% of tested HN users (LinkedIn-linked then stripped) at 90% precision for $1-4 in minutes. Authors note these easier than typical pseudonymous accounts; lower for careful/Reddit users. Not "any" account. arxiv.org/abs/2602.16800 decrypt.co/379228/ai-can-…

Good grief.
One of the most influential KDE developers, Nate Graham, has made some (extreme) statements regarding @OmarchyLinux, @FrameworkPuter, & @DHH. The KDE leader also suggested that financial contributors to Omarchy Linux (such as the CEOs of Dell, Spotify, Stripe, Cloudflare, and Dropbox) were a “rogue gallery of villains”. He says that KDE only took money from Framework Computer “after verifying that Framework had severed their ties with DHH and Omarchy”. Which, he says, happened after “Omarchy received a ludicrous amount of money from a veritable rogues gallery of villains.” “Omarchy is radioactive in KDE,” the KDE developer stated. “Nobody I know wants to have anything to do with them.” He also made statements relating this to a “pro AI nazi bar”. Nate Graham is one of the most visible leaders of the KDE community, a past elected board member, and is currently the CEO of Techpaladin Software — which funds KDE development and was hired by @Valvesoftware to work on the SteamOS desktop (which is KDE). pointieststick.com/2026/09/2…

Stop scrolling for a second. I just want you to pause for a moment. We live in the most incredible time to be alive in the history of this species Every other day a new revolutionary product drops that gives you more freedom, power, and ability to do ANYTHING you want LITERALLY every other day A couple weeks ago Astra gave you super intelligence. Today Opus gives you super intelligence at lightning speeds for dirt cheap. Soon Meta glasses will come out that let you talk to a super intelligent personal agent everywhere you go Every day technology makes your life better and better. Every day you're capable of accomplishing more. Every day you have the ability to help out your fellow man more than ever before For thousands of years nothing happened. But today, everything is happening Please just take a moment and realize how incredible, awe inspiring, violently beautiful this all is If you are one of the pessimists that haven't realized the incredible nature of what is happening right now, I beg you to view this world through a different lens Being alive right now is the greatest gift God has ever given us. I hope everyone realizes this soon enough

i believe most engineering teams working on core ethereum will disappear over the next 3 years. there is no real money to be made there, and nowadays there isn't even that much status to gain from doing it. AI changed the landscape pretty fast because implementing a client is simply not as difficult as it used to be. i actually think this is good for ethereum users and stakers. most crypto engineering teams outside ethereum will disappear even earlier. lambda's biggest strategy is to just keep doing what we are doing while most people eventually vanish from crypto. there aren't many teams with lambda's combination of expertise in cryptography, compilers, security, consensus and performance, together with the connections we have across corporations and startups. we're finding different ways of making money from the connections and expertise we have across aligned and lambda. i also don't think there are going to be many fundamentally new use cases beyond the ones we already know. what will happen instead is that ethereum will become the financial backend for a large part of international payments and fx. there are almost no economic incentives to be a core dev, and i don't think donations from ETFs or similar mechanisms will fundamentally change that in the long run. the reason is that it doesn't make sense to keep pouring money into large groups of people that don't produce that much. most of the work that actually needs to be done is researching new ideas, testing them and implementing them well. the ethereum spec will likely end up being written in lean, and lean may eventually become one of the main implementations too. there won't be a need for so many independent engineering teams, apart from having enough competition to keep progress moving quickly. the problem today is that many of the existing engineering teams have very little incentive for the system to change too much or too fast. most people on CT believe the EF is the main thing blocking progress in ethereum. it's true that for a few years after the merge, i think research progress stagnated and we weren't bold enough outside of ZK research. most of my criticism towards the EF was related to its size and the fact that it never prioritized making the UX of ethereum better or spreading the gospel to corporations and governments. now there are multiple new organizations doing this, so we're fine. nowadays i believe engineering teams are the biggest bottleneck preventing ethereum from becoming faster and better. the EF is actually the one pushing things forward. most engineering teams have almost zero economic incentive for things to change dramatically. what ethereum needs is to accelerate the natural consolidation of these engineering teams so that we can push for bigger changes much more aggressively. i hope the EF and CT start realizing this. ethereum won't have a real competitor thanks to: - current network effects - formal verification - minimalism - post-quantum security - privacy - zk becoming stupidly fast, with proofs verifiable on basically any piece of hardware - lean ethereum: new consensus, faster p2p and faster finality, while supporting even more stakers and maximizing decentralization - propamms solving many of the problems around pricing assets and trading on a slower chain like ethereum i don't think solana, tempo, hyperliquid or robinhood have a chance against Ethereum if we just focus on the important things and do the inevitable: remove the bottlenecks that slow progress.

So much Zcash FUD was obliterated over the last year… and it reflects in the price! Last year, one Chinese mining pool (viaBTC) controlled more than 50% of the hash rate. Monero bros were warning that a massive 51% attack is coming and shielding transactions will be censored. Today, viaBTC only controls 35% of the hash rate. American pools like Foundry and Luxor stepped in to create more balance and decentralization. Last year, the Electric Coin Company hired most of the devs and was in charge of every major decision. Today, you have lots of dev companies: Shielded Labs, ZODL, Valar Group, Tachyon. They work together, support each other, disagree on some philosophical issues (Shielded Labs wants shielded assets, ZODL wants to keep the simple design). But at the end of the day, everything works. Last year, one could argue that shielded pools are unauditable until 100% of coins were withdrawn. Today, Ironwood provides supply auditability with the same privacy protections. Last year, most Zcash wallets and services were built by ECC employees and ECC grant money. Today, there are many more choices. There’s a parallel and equally good ZEC mobile wallet (Vizor). There’s a new node client that’s faster and competes with zcashd: it’s called Zakura. The culture is less monolithic, as everyone can choose which software to use. Once again, more decentralized. There’s also a lot to be said about the boost in exchange liquidity, UX improvements, DeFi integrations, progress-driven governance system (the recent vote for faster blocks is a major leap). All these upgrades are reflected in the amount of shielded coins: 5 million ZEC is now stored in shielded pools, compared to last year’s 1.4 million ZEC. Zcash is no longer the same project it was a few years ago: it’s bigger, it has a very healthy dev culture, and it’s constantly expanding in ways you would not expect. There’s so much more to the picture than Balaji, Naval, Arthur Hayes, Barry Silbert & the Winklevoss twins. If you cannot see the massive improvements and you think about Zcash in 2017 terms, you’re most likely zidelined and intellectually dishonest. This technology is finally mature and it found its use cases: saving & spending with world class privacy, which leaves no sensitive financial data for the public to scrutinize. It’s okay to be zidelined. It’s okay to wish that your bags were pumping instead. But if you cannot do fundamental analysis in the era of powerful AI and podcasts about everything, you’re really not gonna make it. Zcash is making amazing progress at a rate most people can’t even follow. And privacy is the next big bull market narrative. So buckle up, forget about your 3% gains in bitcoin for a little while, and study a Zcash project. Join the Telegram/Discord channels, ask questions, learn something new about the most exciting field of mathematics and cryptography! Don’t follow leaders, watch your parking meters - Bob Dylan

Talk about slowly then .... Just got off a call with a waste mgmt consortium who have 1. significant methane emissions on multiple landfills affecting air quality, tourism, human health 2. concluded the only viable solution is Bitcoin mining 3. are asking when we can visit They don't want one Bitcoin on of their landfills, they want it piloted on one, then rolled out to all the other major emitters. And because methane is such a powerful greenhouse gas, just one of these landfill will offset the emissions of a whole midsized city. 3 years ago, landfill owners didn't want to know us/ Fellow-environmentalists scoffed at the idea Bitcoin mining could do anything good for the environment. Fellow investors said things like "remind me the name of your fund, so I'm sure never to invest" The impact that Bitcoin can make for people and planet is only just beginning.

Today, we’re announcing Ternary Bonsai 2 27B. Based on Qwen3.8 27B, Bonsai 2 27B is 9x smaller than its full-precision counterpart while retaining 98.2% of its aggregate benchmark performance. Two months after the first Bonsai 27B release, the biggest change is quality. The footprint remains 5.9 GB, but the gap to full precision has narrowed materially, with particularly strong gains in agentic coding, multimodal reasoning, and long-horizon tool use. Ternary Bonsai 2 27B is available today under Apache 2.0.
