Even if we accept this premise, I think "unintentionally" killing 4.5 million people doesn't really paint you in a favorable light compared to Al Qaeda
It's technically true that the US has killed more civilians than al-Qaeda as @hasanthehun says but that's because the US is a superpower of 350 million people and al-Qaeda is a relatively small terror group. It's comparing apples and oranges. Also, key difference: US policymakers for all their faults do not deliberately try to kill Muslim civilians. Al-Qaeda does.
