One vote stood between America and independence. The man who had to cast it was 80 miles away, battling cancer, as a violent thunderstorm raged. His name was Caesar Rodney. A lesser-known founder of the American Revolution, Rodney rode overnight on horseback from Delaware to Philadelphia, arriving just in time to cast the deciding vote for independence and sign the Declaration of Independence. 🇺🇲

Had to vote in person. No mail-in ballots. No proxy’s. In person. And he rode a horse through a raging storm for 9 hours while deathly ill to cast that vote in person before time ran out. US Supreme Court and democrats believe in election months and vote by hook or crook. What a crock. Amy Coney Barrett and John Roberts are a disgrace.

I always loved John Adams description of Rodney “the oddest looking man in the world; he is tall, thin and slender as a reed, pale; his face is not bigger than a large apple, yet there is sense and fire, spirit, wit and humor in this countenance."

The Founding Fathers had true grit. I’m so thankful for them and for our hard-won independence. 🇺🇸 ✨1776

You mean there was a firm "date" he had to vote by? They didn't wait weeks for him to "get around to it"? Or for him to send it by courier (eg mail)? Insanity!

And now our representatives spend more time off than on leaving important work undone. If only we had individuals that took their duty as our representatives seriously, as opposed to what they get out of it.

Wow! One person had a monumental decision that changed the future of America. 🇺🇸 We should give thanks to our founding fathers who laid the foundation with the Declaration of Independence.

The State of Delaware removed his statue to appease the woke mob. There can be no appeasing these thugs.

Weren't you the group of idiots that championed ACB for SCOTUS? Bang up job. Stellar. She's a complete disaster. Time and time again will vote with the 3 activist Justices in supporting their liberal progressive bullshit. Welcome to permanent election month dumbasses.

Indeed. History ought to be taught on dinner tables, classrooms etc. The price of freedom and the vision of the founding Fathers ought to be understood enough to be loved, protected and appreciated. It takes effort to remain free with an intact identity and values that establish and maintain a nation—from its inception for its stable and successful future. The Founding Fathers envisioned a republic grounded in individual liberty, limited government, and self-reliance, principles that required deliberate effort to establish and have historically demanded vigilance to preserve against erosion. Every individual determination and timely action will help secure freedoms of America. ❤️

They were really tough, weren't they. I can't imagine one horse making 80 miles like that. So I have no doubt that people along the way gave him a fresh mount every 15 to 20 miles.

@elonmusk @therealdon68541 It is a shame that Elon Musk, an immigrant, is more patriotic than the Entire Democrat Party and a good 2/3 0f the GOP who were born here. Sad day for all of us.

Caesar Rodney’s ride is one of the most remarkable acts of commitment in American history. Despite illness, exhaustion, and a dangerous storm, he chose duty over comfort—proving that sometimes history really does turn on the courage of one person. 🇺🇸

Everyone should watch or watch again the musical 1776. Rodney’s role was well documented. My favorite film on American Revolution.

The vote in Philly July, 2, 1776 to war against the Crown for Independence Wasn’t Unanimous. 12 out of 13. The heavily weighted Royalist Colony of New York abstained. New York’s delegation voted ‘for’ one week later on July 9. I’m not aware of another vote.

If Caesar Rodney rode his horse under violent weather despite his disabilities, why can't we vote in one day and one day only. Voting meant the Freedom of our country for Rodney. It is the same today and what is more we have cars that can keep us dry if we must drive overnight
