Norwegian MP Peter Frolich says he illegally brought drones with thermal cameras into Ukraine in 2023. He feels fine about it. Free Ukraine, the volunteer group he founded with others, first tried to send the drones by ferry. Customs stopped them under a law dating to the 1950s. Frolich took them across anyway. Then he pressed the government to change the rules. Drones can now be sent to Ukraine legally. He is writing a book, If War Comes, about his trips to Ukraine.

I'm sitting in a Kyiv hotel room listening to explosions that are rattling the windows. Meanwhile, the White House is trying to cyber-bully me because I criticized Steve Witkoff for calling Putin a “humanitarian.” What a weird night. Ah, to be an American journalist in Ukraine.

There is a lot of Russian propaganda in Europe. They have invested as much money in it as in weapons during this war. This is a massive financial program spanning decades. Russia has been waging a hybrid war against Europe, including Italy, France, Britain, and Germany, for a long time. It just isn't waging a full-scale war against them as it is against us. Because we had the same thing – a hybrid war. Russian narratives across absolutely all television and media platforms, on the internet, and on social media. People should not be pierced through and brainwashed by waves of narratives from the Russian Federation. Because it is up to France, Ukraine, Italy, and Spain to decide how to live and whom to elect. Russia cannot influence Italy's choices and freedom. Italy is a free country, just like Ukraine. The Russians will seek to exploit far-right movements, religious movements, faith, migration, and gender. Russia doesn't care what issue can divide society: from religion to language, Russia will always find it and strike there. We are seeing this now not only in Europe – they also have influence in the United States of America. They have a very significant wave going on there, and their network is operating. Tonight brought me to tears. At 3:00 AM, Kyiv was attacked again. Ballistic missiles. Reported Zircon missiles. Up to 15 missiles, according to initial reports. This is the THIRD wave of ballistic attacks we’ve endured tonight. 10:00 PM. 2:00 AM. 3:00 AM. I broke down crying. Some of the explosions were near my friend’s neighbourhood. I could hear them from my room. And she wasn’t answering my messages. I was terrified. Then the explosions continued across Kyiv, with reports of strikes affecting residential areas. And here I am, sitting on the floor, closing my eyes, listening. I have learned what a missile sounds like as it flies through the air. I have learned to recognize the terrifying sounds that come before an explosion. I even catch myself describing them while recording videos. DO YOU UNDERSTAND HOW FUCKED UP THAT IS? I’m wiping tears from my face as I write this. I’m fucking scared. I’m afraid to read the news because I don’t know how many people have been killed or injured tonight. THIS IS NOT NORMAL. Fuck Russia’s terror against Ukrainian civilians. And to Donald Trump, the White House, and everyone who calls Putin a “humanitarian” while speaking about peace: Look at what is happening to us. We need air defence. We need protection. We need the means to survive these attacks. Our lives are not bargaining chips in your negotiations.
