The math on this doesn't work. Unless he conceived the baby during a leave, or his wife was artificially inseminated, that ain't his kid!

Well immediately the tongues gotta wag right? But it could be a lot of different scenarios, like a leave or the wife travels to where he is stationed. It's not that big a deal.

I’d be asking a lot of questions before I start making any assumptions. The baby may have been adopted. It may be due to IVF treatments. He may have gotten leave to come back and see his wife before his mission ended.

No one is deployed for three years, not since WWII. You will get some leave time in there. I got back to back 12 months remotes but still got two weeks in between.

Math doesn't add up - 3 years away, 9-month pregnancy, baby is 2 months old when he returns. Either he wasn't gone the entire 3 years or he needs to be cruising the neighborhood!!!

What about wife's visit to the place he was stationed? I do not think he was in a mission some place where he could not spend a weekend or at least 1 day in a nearby town, occasionally.

What—- how long was that pregnancy? Elephant’s pregnancy lasts about 22 months but humans it’s usually 9 months.
