I'm on @catholiccom today pointing out how much priests read the Bible - over 200 verses a day - in response to the occasional Protestant claim online that we don't read much Scripture.

Just because you can't grasp that "pray" has 2 meanings (worship & petition for help), doesn't mean it's not true.
No Catholic or Orthodox worships Mary, but we honor her and pray in the sense of petitioning her for help.

When we see thou, thy, or thee in prayers, we need to remember that THOU was used for people you were closer to; it was less formal than YOU.
God & the saints are close to us, & we can communicate like friends: it's not we need ot be more formal with them.

Ideas for gifts for my parents' 50th anniversary next year?
We already reserved the Church they got married in for a renewal of vows Mass.
If I ask, they'll just say they want to see their kids & grandkids happy. They have enough money to buy stuff they want, so something non-monetary might be best.

At the Saint Louis Art Museum, I ran across this piece that seems to have several saint's relics still part of it.
