Whenever relatives came forward she helped reunite them and returned everything she had buried. For children whose parents had died she helped arrange safe homes. She returned to her quiet religious life and never wrote a memoir. The children never forgot her. As adults they returned with their own children and grandchildren. Sister Denise died in 2006 at the age of ninety-four. Annie Beck, one of the children she sheltered, later said, “She was like a mother to us. She saved our lives.” Eighty-three children entered her convent seeking safety, and all eighty-three survived.

Army 1st Lt. Amos C.R. Bock took his last breath on October 23, 2006 serving During Operation Iraqi Freedom. He died from injuries sustained when an IED detonated near his vehicle in Baghdad.
