Jake Bauers gifted Pat Murphy the final out ball. Murphy thanked him and told him “You’re gonna be a rich fucker. Just remember when you’re on that horse shit Yankee team and you’re all playing for yourselves….just remember this is way we used to do it” #ThisIsMyCrew

This is not a good look for Alvin ISD athletics & I am very disappointed. I have always supported Alvin ISD Athletics with actions. But as a former coach how does this make anyone excited about coaching in the district?? This the exact type of stuff thats driving so many good educators & coaches out of the profession. How is slaving coaches for low pay beneficial for the kids? And then this was said as if it was a flex for setting the standard. It's hard to find good coaches right now why make it harder??

You know what's more expensive than $4 a gallon gas? -Paying student loans I never took out -Paying for free food for someone that shouldn't even be here -Paying healthcare for people that jumped the border -Paying for infrastructure in a country I've never been to -Paying for military protection for people that hate us THAT is costing me a Hell of a lot more than $4 gas!!!

I don’t know how else to say this. Every single college baseball talks about “physicality” and how important it is to playing college baseball…literally all of them. Go listen to any podcast with a coach on it. What does physicality mean? It means you’re BIG and STRONG. If you’re not dedicated to getting bigger, stronger, and more explosive, you’re limiting your chances of playing at the level you want to. So here’s your plan. 1. EAT WITH A PURPOSE. Every Sunday, go to ChatGPT and type: “I’m a high school baseball player looking to gain 2lbs of good weight per week. Build me a grocery list and meal plan for the week that will help me reach my weight gain goal. Then go to the store, buy the food, and eat what it says throughout the week. 2. TRAIN WITH A PURPOSE. From now until your season starts, commit to a consistent strength and explosive training program. Lift. Sprint. Jump. Throw. Recover. And do it consistently. 3. EXECUTE. Not for a week. Not when you feel like it. EVERY. SINGLE. WEEK. If you do this, you will be a bigger, faster, stronger and better baseball player. Like everything, it’s simple…not easy. If you want it, you’ll do it.

A D2 coordinator posted something that should scare every recruit reading this. His school’s database held 50,000+ recruits for a single class. One class. One year. 50,000 names. He can’t watch 50,000 highlight tapes. Nobody can. So he doesn’t try. He eliminates. Fast. Every coach runs a checkbox system before he presses play on your film. Checkbox 1 is size. You can’t control height, but weight is 100% on you. If you’re undersized for your position, every other box has to be perfect just to survive the cut. Checkbox 2 is position need. A coach can love your film and still cut you if he already took 3 quarterbacks in your grad year. Zero room left. That’s why sending 100 messages to one level is a losing bet. Fire wide across every level. Some staff has a hole at your spot right now. Checkbox 3 is grades, and it’s the one most families ignore. Below FBS, academic money stacks on top of athletic money. A 3.5 GPA kid is cheaper to offer than a 2.5 GPA kid with the same exact film. Talent gets you recruited. Grades get you offered. Aim for a 3.0 minimum, and know that 3.5+ often maxes your offer. Check your NCAA core GPA, not your transcript number. Core excludes PE and electives. Floors are 2.3 for D1 and 2.2 for D2. Checkbox 4 is your X profile. When a coach hears your name, he searches X, not Google. He gives you about 30 seconds to prove you’re worth the click. A helmet photo, no measurables, and a bare Hudl link gets you cut before he ever opens your film. Only after all of that does he reach checkbox 5: your first 5 plays. A D1 recruiter and a director of player personnel both told me the same number. 30 seconds. 3 to 5 plays before he decides. Order your best play first, because there is no later. Notice the order here. Size, position need, grades, X profile, then film. Film is dead last. Most recruits obsess over their highlight tape and fail every box that comes before it. And here’s the part that flips this whole thing. You can pass every single box and still get skipped, because he simply forgot you exist. A coach needs to see your name about 7 times before it sticks. One message is not a strategy. It’s hope.

I came across a video of a college baseball coach in Texas talking about their recruiting process. He broke down their numbers: 300 players on their initial list. 60–70 phone calls. 35 offers. 26 visits. 10–12 players signed. But what really caught my attention was something else he said. He’s LOOKING for reasons to cross players off that list. The quicker a player shows he’s not a fit, the easier his job becomes. Think about that. The next time you’re playing your third game of the day, it’s 95 degrees, you’re exhausted, and you hit a routine ground ball to shortstop… Run your ass down the line. You never know who’s watching. And you have no idea how quickly you can go from being ON a coach’s list to OFF it.

Baseball rewards the ones who keep showing up. The ones who put in the extra reps when no one’s watching. The ones who fail, adjust, and come back stronger. Hard work doesn’t always show up right away… But when it does, it’s everything you dreamed of. Keep going. The game always gives back. #BaseballDreams #HardWorkPaysOff #KeepGrinding #TrustTheProcess

The art of deception and trickery has been removed from pitching! Pitchers used to be thinkers who tried to confuse hitters in many different ways. Shaking off, rushing hitters, holding the ball were just a couple ways they did this. And they all worked! That has been removed from the game by the Pitch Clock and PitchCom. Now we have a bunch of non thinkers with great arms being told to throw 4 seam fastballs at the top of the zone at max effort and @MLB hitters consistently swinging under them! The game is in the toilet and the non baseball people running it are to blame! Justin Verlander reveals the game that convinced him to stop throwing as hard as he could “The whole knock on me early in my career was that I threw too many pitches. I’d throw 120 pitches, but I was only going six innings.” “I had a game in Boston where we really needed me to get deep in the game. Our bullpen was shot. I go out the first couple innings, and I look up and I’ve got sixty-something pitches.” “To me, the most important thing for that game was to chew innings. I was like, ‘I can’t keep this pace.’ So I ended up slowing myself down. I was throwing fastballs at 89. I threw a changeup in that game at 91 and threw a fastball at 89 in the same game.” “I just pulled the throttle way back. I was like, ‘Man, here, hit it. Put it in play.’ All of a sudden, I was like, ‘Man, I am really able to hit my spot.’” “I basically took that mentality and flipped it going into the next season. Let me try starting games like this and then building up as I go. If I get in trouble, I’ve always got it in my back pocket.” “I always viewed it from the hitter’s perspective as you’re facing three different pitchers in three different at-bats, and they’re progressively getting harder to hit.”

49 years ago today: OU walked into The Horseshoe for a Top-5 showdown with Ohio State — and produced one of the most iconic moments in program history. Trailing 28-26 with 6 seconds left, Uwe von Schamann nailed a 41-yard field goal to give the Sooners a 29-28 win in Columbus. OU had trailed 28-20 late in the fourth quarter before rallying to give von Schamann a chance to win it. Nearly five decades later, it’s still simply known as “The Kick.” One of the great moments in OU football history.
