Thanks to Pico Caroni, @AllenInstitute and other organizers/sponsors for a great inaugural conference on the Neurobiology of Mental health. Fantastic program and setting in Thun, Switzerland. @LakeConferences
A study co-led by researchers at UCLA CART has found distinct brain connectivity patterns in six-week-old infants at risk for developing autism spectrum disorder (ASD). uclahealth.org/news/release/…

Dr. Geschwind recently served as a witness in a congressional hearing coordinated by Congresswoman Karen Bass. His testimony focused on introducing Autism Spectrum Disorder. Take a few minutes to listen to Dr. Geschwind's statement: piped.video/V7qgpVf-_EI?t=887.
Our paper looking at the long-term maturation of cortical organoids is out! rdcu.be/cfDQt#organoids#brainorganoids
TL;DR - human cortical organoids start to resemble postnatal cortical development after 250-300 days of culturing
Thrilled to share that UCLA received a $29M gift to establish a center within the Institute for Precision Health (IPH). which will enable Scientists & physicians to work side by side to examine the role of genetics in disease and develop therapies that improve patients’ lives.
Dr. Geschwind leads IPH and played a major role in securing this gift. We are very thankful to our donors, Dr. Allen and Charlotte Ginsburg!

Now out! From @GeschwindLab@UCLA : Abnormal social and repetitive behaviors and elevated striatal dopamine, a molecular hallmark of human psychosis, in a Maternal Immune activation non-human primate model biologicalpsychiatryjournal.…
My commentary on integrative genomics for the interpretation of genetic loci implicated in neurodevelopmental disorders is out today in @BiologicalPsyc1!! I had a lot of fun writing this and reflecting on all that I’ve learned from the great @GeschwindLabauthors.elsevier.com/a/1bdLV…
Very privileged to have completed this project with @Gokul_Ramaswami and @GeschwindLab. We applied gene co-expression network analysis to the human spinal cord to identify the processes and cell-types most susceptible in ALS.

Excited to share our publication by @vivekenigma and @timschang where we use a multi-omic, multi-cohort approach to identify robust early and late proteomic changes in Alzheimer's disease and other neurodegenerative dementias, and find that genetic risk is differentially enriched
