Well, I just got the call. It IS skin cancer on my scalp and I’m being scheduled for surgery next week at some point. Fun times. Like I really needed something else right now. 🫩🤦🏻‍♀️ ugh…

You know I’m falling down on the job with my updates when a random person on X asks me to give more regular progress reports on Kaylie 🤦🏼‍♀️. So I’m finally doing my duty and sharing the great news that Kaylie, after 10 weeks of hospital/rehab stays, gets to come home next Thursday, October 1! She is tremendously excited and ready to be home with her family!! Kaylie has gotten much stronger over the past couple of weeks and started learning how to walk again as well as started learning skills to navigate life post-hospital stay. She will continue intensive outpatient therapy as long as she can handle it with the pregnancy, but she’ll be sleeping in her own bed and cuddling on the couch with her baby & doggies when not in therapy. ❤️❤️ One of the highlights of Kaylie’s weeks is doing physical therapy in the pool. She does it twice a week and loves that therapy probably the most. She is becoming really balanced and steady when she stands, which will help us a lot when navigating things around the house. Kaylie was thrilled to get to go home for a visit yesterday with her therapists and walk the house with them so they could make recommendations on things we need to do or buy to make Kay’s life easier. Tommy and I are starting our training on how to do transfers and showers and all the fun things so we’re prepared to help as much as Kaylie needs. I’d like to say I nailed my first session today, but I didn’t. 🤷‍♀️ It’s going to take a lot of practice to get this old lady up to speed on the mechanics of transferring. Wish me luck and pray for me because I’m pretty nervous about it. Kaylie has had a couple of fun outings with her therapists. We all went to breakfast at First Watch one day and to get our nails done another day. Kay really, really enjoyed these moments of normalcy. We cannot express how much we love & appreciate her therapists. They are a great team, work well together, catch every little issue quickly to fix it, and, on top of all that, they’re fun and personable. Kaylie has bonded closely to them, and we are both definitely going to miss them after discharge. Baby girl is still doing well! Kay had an hour and a half ultrasound last Friday and everything looks perfect! Kay is almost 25 weeks pregnant and baby is measuring in the 41st percentile, which is pretty amazing considering everything mom has been through and the fact that Kaylie had to be tube fed for 5 weeks. Today OB did a non-stress test and baby passed with flying colors. She is a very strong little peanut! Please continue praying that we figure out how to navigate a new normal at home and that baby girl continues to thrive. Please pray that Kaylie can handle therapy as long as possible before delivery and her final surgery a month or two afterward. And please pray for the rest of us family members that we learn all the things we need to learn so we can have a smooth transition at home. Again, thank you for all the prayers already sent. We feel them! Kaylie still has a long road to recovery, and we have no idea when she’ll be able to work again,so friends have set up a GoFundMe for those in a position to help. Update on my Recovery: I have been wanting to update everyone but also don’t want to burden people with constant talk about how I am doing. It has been a roller coaster but I am gradually progressing. Today is 4 weeks since my surgery and I removed the last of the surgical tape from my body. I had surgery on the front and back side of me so there really is no comfortable position. I have no real pain meds left so just getting by on Tylenol arthritis every 8 hours. Needless to say I am in pain. I did start at home PT exercises today and they went pretty well. Unfortunately I have had umpteen surgeries in my life and while I know things are rough now I know every day will get bit better. I pray to Jesus daily to get through and I know he has me. But I also know the prayers from all of you have helped me immensely. I am eternally grateful for all the love and support from everyone! I lost my grandma and my mom to breast cancer and my aunt had stage 4 ovarian cancer and by the grace of God and her warrior spirit she is still alive. I started my proactive surgical journey to avoid the same fate as my loved ones in 2011 and it has been a roller coaster ride. But you know what I am alive to meet, know and love on my grandson. When I am further along and feeling like a normal, functioning human again I will share more about my journey. I love you all so much and thank God for you daily❤️ Love, Michelle

CNN is about to have new owners. Elon Musk may be one of them. Paramount, run by David Ellison and backed by his father Larry Ellison, is closing its takeover of Warner Bros. Discovery — which includes CNN. The newsroom is already on edge. Some staff have said they’ll walk. Now Paramount has reportedly discussed bringing Elon Musk in as an equity investor. Nothing is done. But Larry Ellison and Musk are close allies. If it happens, Musk wouldn’t run CNN. He’d just own a piece of the company that does.
