Today, on the floor of Parliament, I challenged Government over the reported UGX 154 billion being committed to Inspire Africa, a private company. As the MP for Bukooli North and Shadow Minister for Water & Environment, I demanded to know: Who owns Inspire Africa? What agreement did Government sign? Is this money a grant, loan or equity investment? And what tangible benefit will the ordinary Ugandan receive? I will not remain silent when billions of taxpayers’ money are committed without clear accountability. Public money belongs to Ugandans, and Government must account for every shilling.

No what you know — and especially, know what you don’t know. The public has every right to scrutinize NSSF’s investment in Marriott hotel — but a commentator like this should come with facts that would appraise the investment on its merit. What is the current market valuation of Marriott Hotel? Why would NSSF’s stake of 30% be valued at $50m? What kind of cash flows would a business like that generate over 10-20 years to carry this kind of investment? Then you can decide “obubbi we buva oba gwe atamanyi”.
PLU’s @BalaamBarugahar is not fighting any corruption. He is just posturing . I am challenging him to interdict those involved in these 2 fraudulent transactions that have heavily cost we the tax payers. 1. @nssfug Purchase of 30% shares In Marriot at $50 million when Sheraton is worth $60 million. Comparison of the two just point to one conclusion; This was just a conduit! 2. Purchase of Magic Parking grounds by Ministry of Foreign Affairs at $8 million when the real cost was $4 million. I guarantee you he will not persue this because he is scared of Stepping on some big people’s toes. kyava yekyangila ku bu sijui district engineers and head teachers . He is afraid of the big fish ! And that is counter productive to the fight against corruption!

After Magistrate Winnie Nankya Jatiko said she didn’t have 20 minutes to allow the lawyers file bail documents because she was going to pick her child from school, we thought if we filed the documents we would obtain the production warrant for @AloikinOpoloje to appear earlier than the 16 days she remanded her for. She has also refused to entertain this. The reason this time that she mumbles informally is that we “attacked her on twitter” for sending her on remand. Judicial officers and thinking they do us a favor to just do their damn job that is tax payers pay them for!! #FreePraiseAloikin

What a player and gift Messi has been to Football. You listen to people that have played with the man — and know that he’s the best that has ever played the game. A phenomenal player and human being. Thank you Lionel Messi

From DRC to Entebbe Airport by road, through security check, check in, boarding…and in a plane for 45mins. Do you know how many possible contacts of transmission those are? But you want MoH to keep quiet because your business is more important than safeguarding all Ugandans.

7 western media organisations have called me to ask how the Kenyan who died from Ebola was able to go through Uganda. 7!! Our beloved Kenyans have strict Ebola controls at JKIA. Shouldn’t you be asking how he got through those controls. Leave Uganda out of this conversation. We don’t have Ebola here. Thanks.

NRM Should Not Take TUKO PAMOJA Alliance For Granted When we entered the 2026 General Elections, we as PLU were guided by our Chairman Gen. Muhoozi Kainerugaba to sign a Memorandum of Understanding with the National Resistance Movement to support NRM candidates from the President down to the village level. Under the TUKO PAMOJA alliance, we registered a historic 72% victory - a margin the Movement last enjoyed in 1996. That victory was delivered by young people and PLU supporters. It therefore puzzles us to see some historicals of the Movement, like Hon. Kahinda Otafiire, failing to appreciate the contribution of the young people and all PLU supporters. In our cooperation agreement with NRM, we were clear: the core problem of Uganda is corruption and it must be dealt with decisively. It bothers us to see figures associated with impunity and arrogance still being protected and given serious responsibilities under the cover of "We fought." Did they fight to steal? On 26th January 2017, while presiding over Liberation Day celebrations in Masindi, H.E the President himself thanked other Ugandans who joined the Movement and noted that if they had not welcomed the Luwero fighters, NRM would not be winning elections, because Luwero fighters alone are not enough to win an election. If the President does not get rid of these corrupt people like Otafiire from our coalition government, we shall be forced to ask our Chairman to reconsider this coalition with NRM and start our own family. This is my opinion as a Patriotic officer of PLU. David Kabanda PO 005

"Chairman, a country without reserves is not sovereign. The potential of this Bill to destabilize Uganda’s balance of payments is our primary concern as a central bank. For example, last financial year the overall balance of payment surplus was USD 1.5 billion. That’s how we were able to increase our reserve coverage by USD 1.5 billion. Today as we speak our reserves are close to USD 6 billion. Why? Because these inflows have been coming in. The moment you tamper with these inflows here, we risk running down our reserves, and that is economic disaster for a country.” Governor Atingi-Ego on the Protection of Sovereignty Bill 2026 in an appearance before Parliament today.

It was not just us that opposed the sovereignty bill, the BOU Governor Dr. Michael Atingi-Ego noted on April 28th 2026 that; “the law will lead to a substantial depreciation of the Ugandan currency.” On the other hand, fuel prices are skyrocketing, driving up the cost of essential commodities! #KeepingTheGovtInCheck

🇺🇬 Traders bought goods when the dollar was cheaper. With some consignments already in Uganda and others in transit, they now fear higher import tax bills as the shilling weakens, Karim Masaba (Industrial Division, Mbale City) told Parliament. Raising a matter of national importance, he asked URA and the Finance Minister to retain the previous exchange rate used to convert import values into shillings for tax calculations. He said traders had contacted him seeking that relief. Photo by Parliament
