My interview with Peter Obi a few days ago on Arise Prime Time focused largely on the Obi-Soludo debt row. At the heart of it was a World Bank facility. It was not a commercial bank loan. It was a world bank multilateral development credit, offered to selected states, with a federal government sovereign guarantee. The terms are long-term, near-zero interest, tied to specific reforms, such as budget transparency, fiscal sustainability, education, etc. The crucial distinction is between approved vs draw down. Peter Obi's position is that he agreed to it but did not draw down. He did not access it. Technically, that can be true. The loan facility is approved and signed at the federal executive council/world bank level, and the state signs a subsidiary agreement. But money only enters the state's account when it meets disbursement conditions and requests drawdown. Obi says he left the money untouched in the pipeline and that he left savings, not debt on the books. The Soludo camp's position is that he signed off on it. Also true. And this is where the fight is. Soludo's team argues approval is commitment - once signed, Anambra was on the hook, and that's why it shows up in the Debt Management Office records as inherited liability. Obi's supporters say his successor chose to draw it. Obi showed discipline by not touching it. Obi approved it and signed Anambra onto it, but says he never drew down a kobo - his successor did. So where does it go from here? Will both sides publish the DMO statements and drawdown dates, and let the documents settle who signed what, when it was drawn, and what it was spent on? And with 2027 politics already in the air, will this row give the Nigerian people a clear audit of what was met, what was left, and what they still owe? Or just more politics and a sabre-rattling war of words?

AIR PEACE REFUTES INACCURATE NCAA FLIGHT DELAY REPORT, CITES SEVERE EXTERNAL FACTORS AND DATA DISCREPANCIES – DELAYED ONLY 15% OF ITS FLIGHTS Air Peace Management strongly refutes the recent flight disruption report published by the Nigeria Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) for August 2026. The report contains fundamental data inaccuracies regarding our operational volume and mischaracterizes the root causes of flight delays, unfairly placing the blame on the airline. The said data failed to reflect the reality of our operations, nor does it accurately contextualize the primary drivers of the operational disruptions experienced during the said month. First and foremost, the NCAA report vastly underreported our total flight volume. Air Peace operated a total of 2,564 flights in August 2026, as opposed to the 1,864 flights stated in the NCAA report. By omitting over 700 fully operational flights from the data pool, the NCAA’s calculations skew our actual performance metrics and artificially inflate the reported delay percentages. Most worrisome is: Why did the NCAA start the monthly series with August rather than July, immediately following the publication of Q1 and Q2 on 31st of July? It is indeed worrisome that there is still no equivalent monthly data located for July, yet the NCAA published unusually granular August airline delay data only 13 days after month-end. Unbelievable! It is reasonable to suggest that the early release of the August publication should have been accompanied by disclosure that the month contained an extraordinary aviation-sector industrial disruption which significantly affected the airline's operations. The effect of the August 11th instigated Union disruptions of our operations lingered for over 14 days, leading to rescheduling, avoidable delays and cancellation of flights. Why was this report published rapidly without identifying the causes of the delays attributed to individual airlines instead of publishing wrong figures that could tarnish the reputation of the airline despite prevailing operational challenges? Furthermore, the characterization of these delays failed to differentiate between internal operational issues and severe systemic challenges that are completely outside the airline's control. An internal review of our August 2026 flight data performance analysis reveals that 391 flights, which is only 15% of the delays experienced during the month of August, were caused by internal factors. The rest of the delays experienced by Air Peace were caused by external factors, and we have the data to support this. From the above, only 391 flights should be attributed to Air Peace, which represents 15% of the delays in that month. The internal delay causal factors were largely as a result of technical issues resulting in unscheduled maintenance on our aircraft and fuel-related issues. The major external disruptions are broken down as follows: Airport Congestion and Traffic: Heavy tarmac and traffic congestion accounted for more than 51% of the external delays we experienced. Aircraft were frequently held on the ground or in holding patterns due to infrastructure capacity limits. Bird Strikes: Unpredictable wildlife hazards, specifically bird strikes during takeoff and landing, forced unscheduled aircraft inspections and safety checks, disrupting flight rotations. One of our aircraft, 5N-BYG, was struck by a bird in Abuja, which damaged the inlet cowl beyond acceptable limits, costing us USD1.8M to fix the dent. This is an aircraft that operates a minimum of eight sectors a day, airlifting about 1,000 passengers. Unfortunately, the aircraft was removed from flight operations for more than a week, resulting in huge disruptions, and only became serviceable after the inlet cowl was replaced. Airport Facilities: Deficiencies and unexpected breakdowns in airport infrastructure heavily restricted seamless boarding and departure timelines.

Makinde won’t tell you to “go and verify.” His achievements are visible, measurable and littered across Oyo State for even the blind to see. Seyi is simply more sellable to Nigerians, but some of you won’t be honest enough to admit it. Peter Obi needs to stop stammering through interviews, stop throwing around questionable figures, and offer Nigerians more than the sensationalism that surrounds his candidacy. This morning, I had the pleasure of seeing off my dear friend and brother, His Excellency President Ernest Bai Koroma, as he begins his journey home to Sierra Leone. Nigeria was his home away from home for over two years, and I am grateful that we were able to offer friendship, support and solidarity during that period. Working quietly with others, we encouraged dialogue and engagement with the Sierra Leonean authorities to help create the conditions for his safe and dignified return. As we say farewell today, I am particularly happy that he is returning home to Freetown. President Koroma, I wish you a safe journey, peace of mind and every success in this new chapter.
